Issaquah gunman: Didn’t take long for nuts to blame NRA, gun rights

Saturday’s fatal shooting in Issaquah near two schools provides ample reminders that, a) Gun Free school zones do not prevent people intent on havoc to bring guns into school zones, and b) liberal gun prohibitionists waste no time blaming such crimes on the Second Amendment and the National Rifle Association.

These unfortunate people that blame the NRA and 2A have no concept of self defense and the willingness to protect what is theirs. they would rather live in a lie than accept the fact that sometimes people must have the ability to protect themselves from a greater threat than they can barehanded. why can't they get their heads out of their posterior and start blaming the real causes of these actions, the criminal element.

truism

"This column cannot begin to explain the gun prohibitionist mentality that reflexively tries to blame gun rights and the NRA for such a crime. It is no less irrational than the thoughts that must drive people to commit horrible acts."

You can't blame the criminals because it isn't their fault. Personal responsibility is frowned upon. It's the fault of the rich that we have crime problems. If they would just share some of their wealth in the right places, there would be no crime. Of course it's the NRA's fault, they support private ownership of weapons.

How come NO MENTION OF THE WASHINGTON CITIZEN WITH A CONCEALED WEAPONS PERMIT THAT WAS FIRST TO FIRE ON AND HIT THE MAN BEFORE POLICE ARRIVED???

Hey KOMO... is citizen possession of firearms and self defence of others so against your reporting instincts and really so bad you won't report what actually happened???
-jenzenk

Is this true? If so, this should go FOR carrying more guns. Without a CCer, someone may have been killed!

(reply to above)
Encourages vigilante justice, that's why. Citizens should not be getting involved in something like this just because they have a concealed weapons permit. If that's true and someone did get involved as you say, and shot the guy first, he's been watching way to many action films. You need to leave that to the experts IMO.

lol, just have to laugh at the above. I guess you just can't argue with logic like that; especially since your typical gun enthusiast probably shoots 10x more bullets than your typical LEO.

Riot:

There has been no information, at least credible information, that suggests this stuff about an armed citizen shooting the guy is true. I talked to the cops today. Not a mention, not a peep.
I will check again tomorrow to see if this can be verified.
Right now, it amounts to pure bunkum; one of those urban legends that gets started in order to push an agenda.

Dont forgets this comment in his article:

‘Were these assault-style rifles? The report doesn't say, but I think we all know what the answer is. And this man had two of them. Time to pass a one gun per month limit. The NRA has tried to stop that for years. If some good comes out of this, it would be that we get a statewide 1 gun per month limit.'—"Bush_nemesis" (Seattle Times)

Yes, because that definitely stops someone from waiting (well only two months in this case) a couple months to get the guns needed for some kind of attack. And if the said criminal had no patience im sure he would attain them by illegal means. And of course they were assault rifles because he was using guns to shoot at people.... facepalm

Copy that. Someone just jumping back with false info to counter false info I guess....lol.

From the Seattle Times:

"On Sept. 18, less than a week before he was killed, Ficker posted a link on his Facebook page for a New Zealand support group called the Hearing Voices Network.

"People have always heard voices and had visions, since time began. We believe that hearing voices in itself is not an illness," says the network's website."

Issaquah incident shows fallacy of ‘gun free’ school zones

Out of gas, and possibly out of his mind, Issaquah gunman Ronald Ficker gave Washingtonians another real time lesson why the notion of “gun free school zones” is at best a joke, and today’s revelations in the Seattle Times about his firearms show that some reporters sensationalize when they should be fleshing out details.
