The problem with this theory is that the office of Vice President has to be vacant before someone is appointed as the replacement. That means that Harris would have to resign before the appointment can be made and voted on. With the Vice Presidency vacant, there is no one to break the 50-50 tie in the Senate, but any of the weak Republicans, like Murkowski or Collins could vote for the replacement.

Interesting speculation. Stranger things have happened.

Speaker of the House-ugh. Nancy Pelosi
President Pro Tempore of the Senate (typically, the Senator with the longest tenure in the Senate)- this would be Leahy, Grassley or McConnell. Depending on if any of these 3 stay this Midterms.

This isn't a case of the President dying. It's the president stepping down due to the dementia we all know he has. If he does step down, then the VP assumes the role. The problem is that Kamala is the VP right now...and she is grossly incompetent and even more unliked than Hillary. And that is saying something. Nobody wants her to be president and that includes most Dems. So the Dems have to exit her first and put in someone else. Then Biden resigns.

And my bet is that they could find a single turncoat republican who would approve Gavin to be VP. They only need one.

Again, since 1947, the official line of succession is relatively fixed, should President be incapacited, Vp (Harris) resigned/removed, it then falls to Speaker of the House (Nancy Pelosi here), should she herself resign or is found incapable, then the Senate President Pro Tempore, currently one Senator Leahy of Vermont, as the Senator with the longest Senate tenure (followed by Grassley, and then McConnell respectively, depending on if Leahy and Grassley are removed from office for whatever reasons in Midterms) . Then after that, the Sec of The State, Antony Blinken.. then the various Secretaries of various departments.

Edit. I do not see where Gavin Newsom would be legally be eligible for direct appointment to the position without having to deal with all the bureaucracy and oversight committees where Pelosi and Leahy are next in line after Harris.

If this is what they want it would be easy. They take out Kamala first. No doubt they have some dirt on her they would use to tell her and her knee pads to hit the road. Then they put Gavin in as vice. They they either kick Joe out or get him to just step down. If Joe did not want to go they have enough on him to force him out after they have the VP they want. Anyone old enough to remember Nixon should remember how that went. They DID NOT want his first VP to take over to they got rid of him first, then went after Nixon.

We'll see. Right now, the Ds are not as unified as they act. Recently. Maybe a month ago? Elizabeth Warren was on one of those political news talk shows... can't remember which.. anyways, one statement that stood out. And I'm sure it can be verified... the host was asking about whether or not Liz Warren is considering putting a bid for 2024 races.. and well. Her face..

There is no way in hell they run him again. It would be a landslide. They like to pretend they are all loyal but there is no way in hell they would put him up again if he can even make it that far. They have to drug him to prop him in front of a teleprompter and he still can't do it. 2 years from now? He is going down hill fast. God only knows who is really making the decisions there right now, its sure as hell not Joe.

There will be a Vice President when they decide to get rid of Brandon. And there's no way they will let the 82 year old, senile, Speaker of the House ascend the throne. She's barely more lucid than Brandon.

Yep and I would be shocked if they left the knee pads lady there. She is amazingly unpopular even in her home state. That is VERY hard to do. Pretty sure they will do the same thing they did for Nixon. Get rid of the VP first, install who they want, then show Joe the door and help him find it. He will sit at home for weeks after thinking he is still POTUS.
