Well say it this way......

When writing a search warrant for say a suspected drug crime......
Yeah, you might want to include.....besides the illegal drugs.......
Guns/firearms/ammunition
Money
Computers
Vehicles

In and of itself, are they legal to own (besides the drugs that is). But yeah.....the items could be used to further facilitate the drug trade/sales/etc.....

Nah.....let them keep the money. Vehicles, computers, guns and ammo too?

Imagine what else might be found on that computer? Oh yeah!

Rrrrrright......
The cops only want to STEAL everything gained from an alleged dealer's hard work.

Aloha, Mark

Where is the line?

Warrant does not equal conviction.

Committing a crime also does not equal conviction.

You can do something dastardly - like remove the tag from a pillow and sell it. You are guilty. Not Convicted.

Until you are convicted, /should/ we take a persons property?

Let us suppose you are accused of wrong thought. We seize all your money. Now how do you pay for a lawyer?
The Woke crowd, like GoFundMe, will not give you money from donations.

After you are convicted, we might want to sue you for the money you wrongfully got, but we know you don't have ti.
So we have been taking it in anticipation of that conviction.

And that sometimes leads to us taking without even charging you.

The Police and DA's are motivated to do this in many jurisdictions, as they get to keep the moneys.

I think you are a drug dealer, I seize your car, and use it for under cover work.
I am pretty sure that was the whole basis of Miami Vice using sports cars.

From the risk management - how bad is it? how likely is this to occur?
Let us suppose one of us is out sighting in a rifle, and gets accused of poaching.
Seize your gun. ammo. truck. dog. pistol. cash. boots. expensive camo.

There are plenty of verified reports of bad actors making stuff up to justify an arrest or a warrant.
One of the effects has been BLM.

Some of you.....haven't been keeping up on the ways you (as a gun owner) can get stepped on without a trial.

Hint: Ever been accused of DV? Or.....of not playing with a full deck?

Aloha, Mark

From another thread......
The defendant in the case, Tyler Harnden, has been indicted on multiple counts including possession and distribution of fentanyl, controlled substance offenses, firearm offenses, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

So then.....
In SOME jurisdictions.....
It would be quite NORMAL to seize guns found in association to a "drug trafficking" crime.

As always.......innocent til proven guilty.

Aloha, Mark

After watching the governments attempts to convict Rittenhouse, its conduct and obvious belief firearms in civilians hands is not a coveted basic right, furthered the understanding the government will charge, prosecute, write and pass laws which will erode that right and will do so without consequences apart from the occasional law being struck down after time.

That said time while in effect before those few laws are struck down, further erodes the right through an understanding it is normal and lawful During it duration as law. After said laws are struck down its then the perception that a loophole was found in court and common sense was defenestrated :/

so, to hear firearm ownership is being equated to drug ownership, sure. That's tyranny at work… just the way tyranny was at work against Rittenhouse.

You mean to say the person writing that article is claiming those involved in criminal activity typically arm themselves just as the pro self preservation law abiding do?!
Next they'll be claiming criminals also drink water and breath air..
Criminals may drink water,

But law abiding folks drink bourbon.
