Well folks, after a good laugh, I really don't know where to start with this. Those of you who know me know that in the spirit of transparency I prefer to discuss most important NWFA matters with our membership, so I figured I'd discuss this here.
Several of our Supporting Vendors contacted me this afternoon regarding this email they received from an anonymous group supposedly compiling a list of anti-gun businesses. I can only assume they've sent this same email to all our Supporting Vendors, the ones who, in addition to our member donations, are to thank for keeping the lights on around here.
All this in the wake of a several thousand dollar redevelopment of our site, to expand features provide a better user experience, and ensure stability for years to come. I have no doubt this coincides with the launch of our new version this weekend.
Those of you with a smaller monitor might have trouble reading it, so I've attached it to this thread as well. This is an actual screen shot, though I blanked out the name of the sender.
I suppose I can start from the top, and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt in that they are legitimately trying to help our pro-gun cause (a benefit which they quickly destroy).
The second part of that sentence states we're organizing this motley group for the purpose of opposing your gun rights. I really need to take a breath here. Surely they have to be joking, but this one stung a little. NWFA opposes gun owners' rights? They don't find what we do "reflective of preserving rights "? Since the beginning, not only have we worked to foster grass-roots relationship building between gun owners, we've given free advertising to major gun groups such as the NRA, GOA, NSSF, and OFF. Seriously, who do these guys think are preserving and defending your rights? Our primary focus is bringing gun owners together. We'll build the army, but we prefer to let the people with experience (such as OFF) plan and execute the battles.
I draw the line when these people try going after those who provide funding for something we've all worked so hard to build over the past six years. If you'd like to help, if you enjoy NWFA, I encourage all of you to do your best to do business with our Supporting Vendors, and thank those members who have made a donation. These are the people who make this site possible, and the authors of this email know that.
All in all, I hope they do distribute fliers telling people about the anti-gun nature of Northwest Firearms. I have no doubt nine out of ten people will visit, take a look, and quickly determine these people are full of crap.
Cheers,
Joe Link

I've seen this work in the past, and I believe it's a good thing. I'm a proponent of voting with my dollars. Strong start."We are an organization in the Northwest compiling a list of anti-gun sites and those who support such sites, which we plan to pass out at gun rally's and gun shows."
Here's where the fun starts! It couldn't be more clear that the vast majority of NWFA members are conservative, I myself am a right-leaning libertarian. Their belief that our members, the site, or I myself am liberal shows either a blindness to the facts, or what I fear is extreme an bias toward anything or anyone not in agreement with them. NWFA has no political leanings, and we don't run it with any sort of bias one way or the other. To my knowledge our moderators are all to the right of the spectrum, so if anything you'd think it'd be the opposite."It has come to our attention that you are supporting a pro-liberal firearms site, North West Firearms.com,"
Anti-Liberal gun owners? We'll chalk that up to one of the many mistakes with their spelling and grammar; I'm sure they meant liberals. But they got me! I've said it over and over that I fully support Socialists, Communists, Greens, and believers of any other political ideology who want to work within their party to support the Second Amendment. We are all here in support of the Second Amendment, we are a Second Amendment website. Why wouldn't we support a Trojan horse initiative?"We became aware of this when the owner of said site Joe Link posted public ally their support for Socialist, Communist and and Anti-Liberal gun owners to oppose gun owners rights in our states. Why this is a persons write to own such a business and you have right to support one. We do not find this practice reflective to preserving rights of those who are fight to keep them."

Of course they don't want to debate or discuss this. They'd rather send out threatening emails throwing out false accusations."We do not write you to debate or discuss the event, we are however making you aware your business will be placed on a list that supports Northwest Firearms a site whom promotes antigun addenda's. And will be labeled as so in our directory as these facts are true. They are Liberal based, and you support them through advertising. We are giving businesses who support this website 30days to remove their ads from these sites as a show of support for constitutional rights. Those businesses with ads after March 30, 2014 will be added to the list of anti-gun site supporters, to be disbursed as mentioned. There are over 100 Business in the Northwest advertising with anti-gun business while operating in the firearms industry. We intend to stop this from occurring, without debate. Answers to this request are not given, businesses either comply to the request or do not."
