The average yearly car-related fatality figure for the US is 12 per 100,000. This is considered to be a major improvement vs the past.

The average yearly gun-related homicide figure is 3.5 per 100,000....which is made worse by a bad 2020.

Kinda puts things in perspective.
This factoid only matters if the powers that be cared about actual lives over usable statistics. My preferred is 3-4X many school aged children are killed on school busses vs school shootings, per various DOT figures.

But government definitely wants little Johnny going to indoctrination every day so they make it hard to collect the data. The government still adds in most shooting deaths to drive a narrative regardless if it is suicide or justified self protection. Gun violence is just another unicorn term like common sense restrictions.

Me: Yes.
  • You can build or buy any type of gun, even a machine gun, without ID and without a license if it is not used on public property
  • You can buy a gun from anyone, even from out of state, without the government even knowing, if it is not to be used on public property
  • Mere transport of any gun over public property in any state requires no license or registration (like a street-illegal race car on a trailer)
  • Background checks are not required for purchase of a gun
  • A felony conviction will not disqualify you from buying or owning a gun, nor will drug use or mental illness
  • You can buy a gun at any age, but can't be licensed to carry until 16
  • You can carry a gun in public only with a license (as it is in most places now) and insurance.
  • The course for this license will be taught in high school
  • The license is valid in all 50 states and DC
  • License renewal is simple and online for a small fee (much better than renewing carry licenses now)
  • Registration and recording of sale required only for those guns to be carried in public paces with a license, yearly renewal for an appropriately small fee with a safety inspection from any gun store
  • For a gun to be approved for carry, it must meet industry safety standards such as having a drop safety and not being so poorly made it may blow up (most guns meet these standards)
  • These safety standards will not be applied to classic guns, which in our law is "curio and relic," which means over 50 years old
  • Guns will not be limited by power or capacity (like we don't limit cars on horsepower and fuel tank size), even for public use
  • Any gun approved for public carry in one state can be carried in any state or locality in the country with a license
  • Unlicensed carry is a minor infraction, typically a small fine, and a single instance does not jeopardize the ability to obtain a license in the future
  • Revocation of the license for any reason will not result in prohibition from possessing your guns, only carrying them in public
  • Drunk shooting or carrying in public places will be a crime (probably already is in most places)
