" Security researchers find new class of vulnerability in nearly all post-2011 Intel computer chips; major firms release fix that causes 3-9% decrease in performance "

https://techcrunch.com/2019/05/14/zombieload-flaw-intel-processors/

" forcing the processor to ask for help from the processor's microcode to prevent a crash. "

The microcode is included in the IFWI (BIOS)

" Intel Xeon, Intel Broadwell, Sandy Bridge, Skylake and Haswell chips. Intel Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake, Whiskey Lake and Cascade Lake chips are also affected, as well as all Atom and Knights processors. "

Core i Series processors:
List of Intel Core i7 microprocessors - Wikipedia
i3 / i5 similar enough you don't need another list.

Core i-4xxx and higher is a good rule of thumb.

You can see which you have in your BIOS - typically ESC key at boot time (press and hold)
f2 or del are older key combos used. Since Win10 M$ pushed the ESC to get the sticker for compliance.
Free Software CPU-Z (CPU-Z | Softwares | CPUID) can also be used.

Where to get new IFWI / BIOS - from your motherboard (Mainboard) vendor.

Usually exploits are at the OS level.
