This is a touchy subject for me. I have tried in vain to educate people on this, their rights for years. Especially on the fishing web site I used to frequent until I couldn't take its left leaning mods any longer. But I was called uncooperative for advising folks to not voluntarily show their license and/or tag when contacted by LE on the river.

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.

This is a really good summary. The part to remember is be polite, keep your hands visible and DO NOT answer questions, DO NOT EVER give consent for ANYTHING, and keep asking often if you are free to leave.
