So what I'm seeing here is you need suggestions on new places to pilfer your steel for targets,cause the places you used to lift them from got smart.

backsplash? simple... just shoot from farther away.

Blitzkrieg, those rail base plates are about 10"x12" with several square holes for spikes on either side. The rail sits on the base plate or shoe, which aligns and angles the rail. It's attached to the tie or sleeper with 4 spikes and sometimes a large spring clip. When they change out ties they leave the plates and old rusted spikes laying there on the gravel bed.

Oooh, will have to go scouting ASAP.. the end of the bike trail and the now trackless old track area is about 1 mile away..

I scotch tape them to cardboard. The bullet goes through like a hot knife through butter and leaves the coin attached to the cardboard.
