IMPORTANT: Congressional legistation significantly targets gun owners

Hello everyone,

This is my first posting on NWF and unfortunately its not a post with a private gun for sale or searching for a private purchase...its to inform you all that your rights to do either of those things are now under assault by Congress.

HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009 was introduced last month in the U.S. Congress and would ban sales of all handguns AND rifles that contain a magazine of any kind. Private sale and/or purchase of firearms would be outlawed and all guns would be required to be registered and all owners to be fingerprinted.

It would also determine how you MUST store your "registered" guns and would give authorities the right to enter your home and examine your storage method. If you don't meet the requirements of the proposed law...jail time.

Below is a link to the summary and full text of the proposed bill. Please look it over and then let your Congressional representatives know that if they support this bill we will organize and target them for removal from office during the next election cycle.

President Obama says he's all for the 2nd Amendment...this bill, right out of the gate in this legislative session, clearly says otherwise for the Democrats as they consolidate their power in Washington into the hands of an extremely liberal few.

I have to say, some of my friends are not as into gun and weapons like I am. But they are watching very intently at how this Government is stomping all over the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Some of them didnt beleave me when I had told them that if Obama becomes president, we will lose some of the freedoms that we all are custom to. And they too now are buy weapons and ammo with every spare dime they have.. As I have been doing for the past 5 months.

Where is this country heading and how are we going to get there?

nancy and harry have both said no to the attorney general on the assault weapons bill and clearly they remember the last time they passed anti gun laws and are "once burned- twice shy" they still need close watching . This bill is in committie and probally will die there but you need to keep up with it and the people on that committie are answerable to everyone not just their home voters so feel free to let them know were you stand on this issue.

Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are NOT opposed to the assault weapons ban. They have put out a few convenient sounds bites saying they are but this is simply political misdirection at work so they can enact all of their other socialistic plans embedded in the “stimulus plan” otherwise known as the “every pet project the liberals have not been able to get passed in 30 years disguised as emergency stimulus” plan. Look at both of their voting records on gun control.

And here’s a direct quote from Harry Reid’s official Senate web site from the “Issues” tab:

“When I was raising my family and attending law school, I also worked as a U.S. Capitol Police Officer. Today, I still feel a special bond with those who protect our communities. I have worked to provide more resources for our law enforcement community, meet the greater demands of homeland security since September 11, 2001, protect an officer's right to carry firearms, fight the drug war domestically as well as internationally, and protect our children from abduction.”

Please notice the careful phasing of his words. Remember in politics you can carefully disguise your beliefs by the subtlety of the words you use. He says: “…protect an OFFICER’S right to carry firearms…” Citizens are carefully and craftily left out of his position.

Just a friendly reminder to look carefully at the “public” positions of our so-called “leaders” as they know very well how to tread these political waters.

With all of the bad news it is good to hear about some good news.
Here is a link for HR 17 Citizens' Self-Defense Act of 2009.
It has 8 cosponsors already. Please contact your congresscritter and ask them to support this bill.
HR 45 has none as of today. That can change of course.

Citizens' Self-Defense Act of 2009 - Declares that a person not prohibited under the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act from receiving a firearm shall have the right to obtain firearms for security and to use firearms in defense of:
(1) self or family against a reasonably perceived threat of imminent and unlawful infliction of serious bodily injury;
(2) self or family in the course of the commission by another person of a violent felony against the person or a member of the person's family; and
(3) the person's home in the course of the commission of a felony by another person. Authorizes persons whose rights under this Act have been violated to bring an action in U.S. district court against the United States, any state, or any person for damages, injunctive relief, and such other relief as the court deems appropriate.

2. "Reasonably perceived" covers a broad range of gray
3. I like the idea of bringing a civil suit against the gov't for infringing on my rights... provided that I'm still alive and conscious.

That's not true. Harry Reid voted against the original AWB in 1994 and the renewal attempt in 2004.
