To be fair, I have actually logged out to see if I'm missing content that will make some threads less choppy, and sometimes, no, it doesn't. :s0112:
If I can't see it when I'm logged in then I'm definitely not logging out to see it. If their skin is that thin then it's not worth my time. I know I can come across abrasive at times and have strong opinions on things. But that's just life. Life is easier if you're just dead inside. Haha.

I wonder where those that come up with their own info are getting their info from. Very rarely do we even get second hand knowledge of the events
Always wise to get a second trusted source of the info to form an opinion.
The "net" can be a wealth of info but, sadly anyone can make up a site and say anything. I well remember laughing at my Father when he finally bought a PC and got online. He spend hours but, soon fell into the trap. He at first thought of it as a giant newspaper. I had to keep explaining to him to think of it more as those papers they used to sell at the check stands for those around long enough to remember those. Many if they "want to" believe something, no matter how far out, they can find someone who will tell them its true. I used to think it was a joke but I guess there really are adults who believe the earth is flat. If they want to believe it they can I guess find sites to tell them it is. :s0092:

Sadly it's all some people can talk about. But if you read/watch the news 24/7 and believe all that garbage (left or right) than it's all that fills that empty chamber in between the ears. And sadly what is consumed has to be excreted as well. And what is a better platform do do so than the internet where one is safe from a debate or the consequences of their statements. Everyone is instantly an expert in their own eyes.

I mean look at how many articles from yahoo, msn, abc, fox, blah, blah, blah just get reposted to the board. No research. No critical thinking. Just political vomit.

And we wonder why the people are so divided and the government continues to grow stronger while we all bicker with each other like toddlers. Our focus needs to be elsewhere.
That is the entire point. Look at the race hustle. It is a PRIME example of people in power doing everything they can to try to convince as many as possible to hate. It not only works, it makes some of them RICH beyond belief. 🤬

That's like when people use Wikipedia as a reference….. there's a reason that you weren't allowed to reference certain sites in research papers in school…. But some people just believe everything. It's easier to take something as fact than to put the effort in an research it yourself. We call those people sheep. And sheep get slaughtered.

@Joe Link how about we disable it for a trial period? I'd bet some have members on ignore and can't even remember why. People do change, and honestly as adults we should be able to use our own internal ignore button if we are that "triggered".

Used to be I could type that last part and it would JUST be a firearm pun. Sad world. :(

Please do this on December 23rd.

The ones that bug me are those who feel the need to throw their snarky politics into everything, even non-political threads. It must make them feel superior or something.

I am getting better at just ignoring it though, so it has to get really bad before they go on the ignore list.
I'm afraid I might be one of those sometimes. If so I apologize. It feels like the people that are supposed to look after the American way are absent. To the point of working to do away with what I always envisioned life in America being when I got up there in age. Seeing the city I live in and our country change, for the worse in my opinion, is upsetting. It's difficult to ignore what I see every day.

I hear that. I know they want this site to avoid political stuff but, I am watching the country I love being flushed down the crapper while so many seem to pretend nothing is wrong. It gets real hard to not say something.

No, not you. Neither of you guys. There's a difference between honest political discussion, and being snarky, self righteous, and mean spirited about it.

I suppose it's hypocrisy to be irritated by snarky posts from the other side of the political spectrum, but only mildly annoyed by the same level of snarky from "my side" (if I notice it at all), but realistically that's human nature.

I've been guilty of squabbling over politics too. I just have other worries and stress in life right now, and it's a relief to back away from politics. I have my opinions and beliefs like everyone else, but does anybody really care what I think?

Funny and all, but more of a basic reality than most of us like to believe. It's human nature to see ourselves (and our views) as important.

I chuckle whenever I see someone state their position with an air of self-importance: "I'm an independent libertarian", or "I'm a socially enlightened, fiscally conservative, war-hawk, socialist, pacifist, dairy-farming vegan", "I hate Republicans and Democrats equally", "Look at me, I've got it all figured out".

Yeah, we've all got it all figured out, so what. That's not to denigrate anyones specific views or beliefs, but we've all got them, and we all think we're right.

I remember sitting in the office a few years back, talking politics with a coworker. He's an intelligent, insightful guy who knew a lot about his job. He made a comment something along the lines of, "When it comes to politics, everyone thinks they're right, that they've got it all figured out, but you know, I really think I am right."

I laughed because I initially thought he was being funny, but he got offended because he was dead serious. He genuinely couldn't see the ridiculous irony in what he had just said. Over the years of working with him I also came to avoid any politics around him like the plague. He could be a really good guy, but when it came to politics he was downright mean. Another coworker who had been good friends with him for decades said the same thing- avoid politics around him or you'll regret it. Snarky, self-righteous, and mean.

Something I try to instill that in my elementary school kids, wife too, is that in life, it really doesn't matter what others think of you. In most cases, they're so tied up in their own life, that others really don't matter. I stopped caring about what others thought of me long ago. I guess that was around the time I stopped showering (joking).
