When agreed to the iFish AUP, one of the conditions was no profanity or representations of profanity. You admit that you violated that provision so you shouldn't be surprised that you got your hand slapped.

Much akin to someone saying, "Well, you did exceed the speed limit." when you complain about receiving a radar ticket for doing 26 in a 25 zone.

I'm sorry that you got your feelings hurt but be honest, you brought it on yourself.

What is offensive about this part, Modeler? You mean the condescending, belittling, superior part?

I left ifish over a year ago for much the same reasons. The rules take precedence over content, intent, or communication of ideas. Certain ideas are not welcome and the admins have no hesitation punishing those with whom they don't agree. It's largely about forcing you to conform, and not the quality of your ideas or thinking. I'm sure they are big fans of zero tolerance policies.

That both of the females post pictures of themselves accompanied by cats tells me a lot. I used to be married to a cat person, the biggest mistake of my life. She bred high dollar cats for the show ring as a hobby, and over the years I've met numerous "cat people". There's a kind of attitude that goes along with cat worship by women, and it doesn't include respect for men, or male activities.

Even this site has posted rules against profanity and representations of profanity. It's in section 2 of the official rules and states that topics about religion are off limits.

Every private forum has their own rules. iFish is a private forum and is free to make whatever rules they feel are in their best interest. We do support the right for private businesses to run their affairs as they see fit right? Right?

If you don't like the rules of the game, find a different game. But don't whine and moan about it on another site. It's lame.

P.S. I hate cats.

Lol love it

And repeated or egregious violations of the rules here will get you a talking to, but you won't be locked down or threatened for slight infractions. I'm a big boy. I can take it. I'm not stupid. But I expect people to show a modicum of common sense in setting and applying rules. And when I was in law school I learned about this thing called free speech. It seems to be available to just anybody, regardless of qualifications or status.

If you'll go back and read what I posted (go ahead, I'll wait........) you'll see that I didn't know there was a filter, so there was no way I could have "intentionally bypassed the filter". The general feel at ifish is very clique-ey, those two incidents just made me not want to go back.

On another note, I know your username is nehalemguy, but you don't happen to live in Spokane do you?

Nope. Vernonia, Orygun. Stuck in the coast range between Astoria and the Evil Empire.

So did it come up as ******* or did you re-type it to read a$)0l3?

We agree on that. I just don't let it eat me up when it doesn't go my way.

I remember your post with the hounds. My father and I used to run Walkers in the '70 & '80s. Broke my heart to see those pics. But they were gruesome to see.

I was an active member for many years, wrote hundreds of yarns and some very long photo essays. I contributed to well over 5,000 threads and I got kicked off because I continued to post things about what happened throughout history re: gun confiscation, and they were so Ultra anti 2nd amendment that they axed me.

I belong to many forums including Ifish. Been there since their humble beginnings and I've been here since the humble beginnings of this site. Joe Link used Ifish to recruit some some early members over to this board and I'm pretty sure he caught some grief from that board from doing so.

I respect everyone's opinions here as well as there and go where you please. Ifish fills a certain niche for me. I'm into fishing and fish related policies/politics. Ifish to me is a better source for that type of information and discussion. I'm into firearms and firearms related policies/politics. NWF is a better source for this type of information and discussion.

I treat forums as tools to gather information and enjoy discussions. I too have received infractions on Ifish over politics, so I found other sites that are geared for politics.

I understand how many of you feel, but just remember these sites are private entities and are direct products of an individual. Have you ever met an individual that you agree 100% with all the time???

As far as Jenni as a person.....she is an inspiration to me and has overcome much adversity. It is an unfair to label her with derogatory terms. I respect the people that create these sites and allow me to use them. I also respect their rights to regulate them.

Shout out to Joe for creating this site and personally inviting me years ago to be a member.

Ifish has become a caricature of a fishing forum. :s0114:

Bunch of bible-toting fruit-cakes. I stopped posting there two years ago when "Jenny" sold-out to corporate sponsorship.

I get tired of good fishing holes becoming overcrowded in DAYS! Idiots will post anything to elevate themselves.

Come on Modeler! You intentionally bypassed the filter, got caught, and then play the victim?
I would be one thing if it stopped there, but it doesn't.
If you have been there awhile, you may remember when Jennie had a problem with the Salty Dog fishermen referring to halibut as "butts."
She objected and was scolding the users for it.

Eventually she turned moderation of the "Salty Dogs" over to someone else, so she didn't have to read the word "butt" regularly on her board.

Now I have met Jennie, and she's nice enough, and I too respect her for what she's dealt with as far as her Marfans, but her intolerance for one side, while preaching tolerance from the other is more than misguided.

And her choice of moderators is atrocious. If you want to receive and infraction or a ban, just confront someone (like Pilar for instance) about his socialist politics.
Oh, and be careful of referring to Nazis over there too.

You will get the standard "there are many and diverse views here on I-fish blah blah blah,...."
The line they left out of the AUP is:
While there are many diverse views here on I-fish, we have no tolerance for the ones expressed by adult conservatives.

I always have a hard time with sites that violate my first amendment rights why claiming they have theirs.
My opinion is many moderators and admins love the power on other sites, they are in a sense the rulers of that domain literately. Seen in my days some just love to control people, in this case I find it odd they claim freedom and suppression . The Third Reich mastered that combination. :s0131:
I think any forum that has power over members, be it by ban, or rewards has power non-the-less. And do not always use it wisely .

I have owned several forums over the years eventually sold the websites. But for Moderators it hard at times to know when to do something and when not to. We ran our sites black and white that was it. The problem is when moderators do not run a site black and white and punish newbies for the same thing oldtimers do.
And that is where the problem is in many sites. Actions or lack of builds confusion.

Are your free speech rights unlimited on this site?

We both know that answer of course. NWF, like iFISH, is a private site. Both have the right to regulate and/or restrict the content of the sight. If we don't like how a site is regulated, we do still have free choice to leave.

How is this thread about firearms? This is the general firearms forum. Try Off topic.

In addition it violates the following NWFA rules

1. Spamming, trolling, flaming, personal attacks, and distasteful material are prohibited (without a doubt personal attacks)

10. All threads are to be posted in the appropriate section.

I got nothing against crapping on Ifish its just annoying to have to weed through threads in the wrong place that have nothing to do with what I come to this forum to discuss.

are you now not happy because this isnt going your way, you too now want to spout forum rules in attempt to control the members.....you might very well be happy over at IFish

My problem there is one I have in a lot of places. I am just compelled to say what's on my mind. By my own admission it is a trait that has got me in a lot of trouble over the years. Plus, I am secretly in favor of just about everything they loathe. I remember when it was okay to drink beer, cut down trees, smoke, shoot guns without earplugs, ride dirt bikes with no helmet and sneakers, and shoot a doe or two all in the same weekend and no one hated you or tried to proscecute/persecute you for it. I miss that....a lot. I'm probably the reason rivers like the Salmonberry are closed to fishing. You younger guys will never know how much fun we used to have. It's no shock drugs are epidemic nowdays. No other way to get that permagrin feeling that made me laugh for days afterward.

I don't do most of those things anymore....but I'll be honest. I would if I could get away with it.

Mark you right. My mistake. I'm not good at the rules thing.

Cause you seem like a perfect person.
Or the teachers pet!
