I'm just glad a bunch of the Californians in my age range who are moving up here are into guns, and either aren't political or think democrats are slavers. I was pleasantly surprised. I'm talking 18-30, so there's some hope for the future.

Not if they are anything like you!!! :p;):D:D:D

A lot of people are of the misconception that millennials are the driving force behind this radical left-wing, anti-2nd amendment push but yet if you look at the political leadership on the left, many are getting long in the tooth. Feinstein, Pelosi, etc. This dogma of socialism is and has been taught in public schools systems by older generations for quite some time. All I'm saying is millennials take a lot of the blame but you have to look at who is doing the pushing.

Yeah, younger liberals tend to respect the value of a gun, and if they don't they are receptive to facts and discussion.
Although you'll always have insensible emotionally driven despot complexes in every age range.

I'm a refugee and fled Washington, from what I can best describe as pre-Nazi Germany before WWII. The insanity, the hatred toward conservatives, the hatred for the Constitution, the hatred toward President Trump, the total leftist control and oppression. It's horrible. And growing exponentially worse. 2020 will almost certainly see massive gun, ammo, and accessories bans and restrictions. The lazy apathetic people of Washington have let that state go to the dump, and much of the pro-gun voting base (like me) have fled, further exacerbating the problem. It's simply unconscionable for folks there to keep electing the same idiots into power, and a full 50% of the voting age population refuses to participate in the easiest election process imaginable - the mail you a ballot that is free to mail back!!! And yet a full HALF don't bother, while their rights are taken every election. The state is lost, absent a miracle or federal intervention. There is hope, if the new SCOTUS case coming out of NY on guns goes favorably. It may signal to these leftists states to dial it back... who knows.

There is a soft cold war going on, a form of terrain denial, by the left grabbing land, making bad laws to drive opposition out or under, and bankrupt them in long legal fights. They have been pretty successful, taking about 10 states now with this tactic. I do hope the feds step in and stop it. They could, actually, with some aggressive use of federal laws and powers, particularly to protect 2A rights and make all state laws contrary to the 2A illegal. I hope Trump gets another term, and maybe these lost states can be saved if some Federal powers are exercised to end or reverse some of this nonsense.

But in the meantime, I know that I no longer wanted to live under daily stress of the tyranny, the hassles, the taxes, the threats against my rights, etc.

My move to Idaho has been simply, in a word, amazing. Whereas WA was literally the worst state I've ever lived in, Idaho is my 9th state and the best I've lived in, or maybe the 2nd best (but that was Colorado when it was a red state, no longer). The people are friendly, gun rights are fantastic, it's a great state for my interests and hobbies... I love it.

And for any Idaho folks, I brought my pro-2A attitude and vote, my money, my guns, and my will to fight to preserve the Constitution! Happy to be here and fight off the lefties before they gain a foothold and ruin this state like so many others.

Excellent post, thank you, Leadcounsel. I think most people who are fleeing the messes that have become their states, not through any actions of their own, are sincere and only wishing to live and let live....Those who helped to destroy their states and areas from within, by voting left and all that it involves, certainly don't deserve to live in a conservative, quiet, and responsible community and state. Let them go somewhere else and wallow in their own crapulence.

As you may have seen in WA state, as we have seen in OR state....the west side rules the whole state. The populations are geared toward liberal and lefty thought processes and extreme taxation, as well as trying to control your every movement and decision in life. that is not going to fly with me and my husband. I was born and raised here, as were the 6 generations before me....I have had it with Oregon and am totally interested in moving to the land of some of my ancestors, in Eldahow (Idaho).

I have always been a conservative, my folks and their folks were conservatives, etc.....the state has been overtaken by those who are running it into the ground and destroying it. I can't stand Kate Brown, "if it is brown, flush it down", too bad our recall efforts didn't work. The gun grabbers are perpetually trying to exert their influence about gun control and lockups, despite the violation of the Oregon Constitution, Article 1, Section 27....and the 2nd Amendment. They don't care. It's time to get out before every right that we have has been usurped by these tyrants in government.

I do have to lodge a disagreement on the defeatist attitude that urban areas control the state. If you look at the numbers, it's not that clear. When 50% of the population doesn't vote, and the election totals are generally somewhere around 35% to 65%, or 40-60%, [of those who did vote] that means only about 10% of the population is the difference so with 50% sidelined, there's PLENTY of sideline folks to swing that result. I have to believe millions of working, tax paying, gun owners, land owners are simply not voting due to apathy or being discouraged or lazy or "too busy." IF they voted, collectively, they could swing the result. But every election season it's the same tired "we can't change the outcome" mantra of the morons who don't vote.

Voting. People in history fought and died for the right. People in other nations can't. Or often they face death if they try. Here, Voting is free. It takes 30 minutes or less. It's simple. What is the argument against voting??? Even PRO GUN people there could not be persuaded to vote for Trump. Or vote at all. "We can't win" attitude. Drove me nuts.

And for the record, I protested, I lobbied, I went door to door, I picketed, I went to the Capitol, I went to NRA meetings, I wrote my representatives, I donated money, I put up yard signs, I handed out fliers, and I voted in every election. I tried. Seemed like 80% of the state was either against us or too darn stupid or lazy to care or do anything.

After nearly a decade of arguing with folks there, I just threw up my hands and opted to leave.

Greg Gutfeld and Tucker Carlson vs Juan Williams and Fredo Cuomo... who wins your favor?

You know, I really don't care for any of them that offer their "Opinions". left or right. none of them are special. they are all pushing to the left or right. I don't care what any of them think. I want to hear what is happening, and hear a few opinions about it and then decide for myself what's going on. I come HERE to hear y'alls opinion. too.

Does anybody have insight that the population of the City of Portland that voted left and having witnessed the demise of the once great city, will again vote in the same boneheads that destroyed their quality of life, their businesses and the education of their children?

I guess I was not making myself clear.....when I was herding sheep, the ranch in the mountains was 35 miles one way from the voting precinct...that was just the ranch buildings.... I was up in the mountains, miles away with the sheep....someone had to take over for me, take care of my horse, and someone else had to drive me back to town so I could vote. Hours and hours right there, but by God I did it....I never missed a chance to vote, and made sure to use my privilege to vote.

All the people I knew, whose livelihoods were at stake due to the edicts from Salemgrad, were sure as hell out there voting. You bet. The leftards in the Valley and Portland have never met a gun grabbing ballot measure, a restrictive logging tie up measure, or a ranching tie up measure they did not like. We defeated a helluva lot of them...but it is getting harder all the time, because of the leftards flooding the state. They hate cows, they hate logging, they hate hard working folks like myself and my family, and relatives....thousands of us are at the mercy of the eggheads and professors in the colleges and of course...'THEY KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR US". You bet.

These people would rather shut down all logging, all the mills, the cattle business and ranchers, and most farming, and allow the feds to put more wolves into the states. The sole purpose of these wolves by the way, was to kill off the sheep and cattle industries. The FEDS don't give a damn about ranchers and their way of life. It has almost killed my family's third generation sheep and cattle operation. And my cousin's logging operation, that has been in their family, my Mom;s sister's family, for four generations in this state. You can vote until you are blue in the face, but when these people in government illegally shove through their edicts, we have no recourse. There are too few conservatives to vote the idiots out anymore. It makes me sick.

The west side of the states have the populations, and the state capitols. They don't necessarily live with the hard work and toil of logging, farming, and ranching, raising livestock, and what the edicts coming from state capitols do to those entities and enterprises. I have seen this time and again....WE vote against something....and the @zz#$%^&s push it through the legislature anyway, with the guise of a public emergency. Oregon legislature is notorious for using and abusing that power....we finally voted on it this year, to get it under control. That is how we got the red flag gun grabbing laws shoved down our throats....WE voters never got to vote on it. It was pushed through with tyrannical government power. That is what I am trying to express....WE HAVE NO REPRESENTATION ANY MORE...beyond the few conservatives and Republicans we can get elected. The rest of it is monkey shines with the leftards in government, and there is no "governor" on their behavior. Even the AG, Rosenblum, decided by her own little self, that the Death Penalty law we voters put in effect in 1984, was not going to be used. Just like that. We voted it in, thirty plus years ago, and POOF! The will of the voters is no more.

That is what I am trying to tell you....WE VOTE....and it doesn't do a damn bit of good anymore. The rot is just like in the Deep State in DC....it needs to be cudgeled out and thrown the bastards all out, start fresh. That will never happen in this state.

It is a given that these people are pre=programmed to vote leftard. It is all they know....instead of thinking it through and realizing they will be destroying themselves and their freedoms as well...hell, let's just keep going with the definition of insanity.
Portland/Progtown is done. After the Ted Wheeler and Multnomah County cop debacle with auntie-fa, this last year, forget it. I wouldn't set foot in that damn city ever again. Not even to visit Powells' books down town. I'll order online.

I feel sorry for the folks who live there and have to watch out for these little bastards, and their private property and vehicles.

Remember when we all voted for no tram at OHSU, and the pricks did it anyway. The Turkeybasters.

Remember when we repealed Driver's licenses for illegals with a referendum? The next session it was legislatively passed as an emergency so the Referendum process couldn't be used? Then last year they added "motor voter" to it, but (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) doesn't apply to non-citizens (except that it's effectively an honor system ;)).

These people will never stop usurping our legislative process to suit their own ends. The are totally out of control. I fully expect more, if not worse, of the gun grabbing coming down the pike in February, if they can get enough leftard signatures on their ballot titles....they will figure some way to ram these through without a vote. Guaranteed. IF IT'S BROWN FLUSH IT DOWN.

The millennials are an interesting group. There is a slice of them that have served in the military, some combat veterans that will defend the Constitution as they pledged. Too bad that this is not a majority, as there are more pussy liberal millennials than there are conservative. That gives me a ray of hope there for the ones who get it.

Now the generation after them, Gen X I guess, will be a different story.

There was a beautiful sunset tonight and as I watched it frame the Sisters, Jefferson, Black Butte, the same thought comes to me looking to the west. It was my home for 59 years in the Tualatin Valley. But when I look that way now, I imagine the insanity I know is going on over there, the political honk mfers who rule the entire state from the valley, the crime, the traffic, the low life scum bags every where, I am glad we moved where and when we did.

Ironically, while some younger folks are liberal anit-gunners, a LOT of younger folks are very much into action video games, action movies, and being more independent which is all about guns and self reliance. There is also a ground swell conservative movement going on, so I do have hope. Time will tell how it all plays out.

As a Native Californian, I wasn't asked my opinion on the entire World's ProgLoons love of my home State and their emigration there. I love State's rights however we as Americans started losing the thread when we allowed toe holds of Communism to spread to some of our most cherished ports, regions and locales.

Look at what is happening in Virginia!
