I think I'm going to start open carrying and carrying a bible at the same time. That will really make some people

Id rather be hit in the head with a 44 than the stupid bible.. LOL. That being said, its not the Bible thats the problem, its the people whom use it... LOL, Just like a weapon...

I find it funny.

Now, Im not saying I dont believe in God, and definitely dont want to open that can of proverbial worms here... But some peoples kids..... Too bad retroactive abortion isnt legal as well...

In any group of people (Republicans, Democrats, Gun owners, Gun haters, Christians, Muslims, Atheists, etc., etc...) you are going to find... well, let's call them poor representatives. And, sadly, many of them have children.

And pretty much any 2,200-page book is going to be on my list of "things not to be hit in the head with." :D

What if that 2,200 page book happens to be on a thumbdrive in pdf format? I wouldn't mind that hitting me in the head so much. :D

I'm still here and will continue to open carry and give you all the reactions from this as I receive it. Thank you ALL. My journey has only begun. This will become more relevant as the weather gets better and the jacket stays off. Like I have said, I will not change the places I go or the things I already do, only now instead of hiding my weapon, I will be OWB carrying. I look forward to hearing more from you guys and galls.
Dave

I OC because it's simply my preferred method of carry. Ever since the Costco thing, nothing's really happened. The bonehead at walmart tried making a big deal out of it, and I asked for the manager, who came up and said he didn't know what the state law or store policy was, so it didn't matter since I was checking out anyway. Other than that, I've been into gas stations, corner stores, friends' houses and other places besides the college campus and nobody's made a big deal of it. Fact is, around my area, open carry doesn't spook people, it doesn't intimidate people, and if anything, it gets people to get educated about their rights! Whether we're for or against OC, CC, or "NO C" as I like to call it, we'd all like the general public to be educated about their rights, right?

you must be talkin about that "healthcare bill" the congress have voted on and never read.. PULEEEEZE doan hit me in de haid wid dat!!

Seriously, though, how else are people going to be gently challenged in their understanding of the legal status of bearing arms if they never see them, only read about their misuse in the shrill mainstream media? It wasn't that long ago whenever someone saw "man with a gun" in any public place in Washington, the 911 lines would light up, cops would roll, "contact" the "perpetrator", and a scene ba made. Some were arrested for legally carrying open... after a few cases went to court and were tossed on the affirmative defense that it is legal in Washington (the defendants citing the relevane RCW to the judge), things began to normalise.... the state Attorney General sent word round the state to LEO, informing them that it is, indeed, legal, to inform the officers out there, stop charging people with a nonexistent crime.... oh, and the 911 operators were also coached so that, when MWAG calls came in, they'd ask pertinent questions to determine whether it was ONLY MWAG, or someone up to some evil. Then they'd explain to the caller "possession of a firearm in public is legal, there is nothing to be done about it, please do not call on this again... unless the one with the gun is DOING something illegal with it". Follks settled down, the calls have largely stopped...... and no more bogus arrests.

By the way, Cabelas have a rather strict policy of checking firearms as you enter, they ssure they are unloaded, and escort you and the weapon up to the gun counter. If it is visible, that is. Concealed carry is fine with them, but it MUST remain concealed. Next time there, be aware of it. I am actually surprised they didn't see it and ask for it to be checked. They are usually rather vigilant about that. Maybe your demeanour was such you drew no attention to it, and the "greeter" was so engaged in conversation with you she never noticed the gun.

Interesting that Costco has a no guns policy... I've CC's into Costco before, never noticed any signs at the entrance...... maybe all Costco members should begin complaining about their no guns policy. They DO listen to their customers, and respond........

Washington law requires that any private establishment (like Charbux, Costco, Home Cheapo) with a no guns policy has to post suitable signage to that effect at public entrances..... lacking them, I'll walk on in every time, not a thought about it. Even the Post Office is supposed to have those signs AT THE PUBLIC ENTRANCES, else their ban is, technically, not enforceable. So says the CFR section on the matter..... I checked it out.

Well, with post offices, it's federal law you're messing around with, rather than state law, so unless I had thousands to spend on a lawyer before ultimately getting back all the court fees and lawyer fees, I'd not mess around with federal law!

Cabelas has signs on there front door. It says something? and then all firearms must be holstered. With a 1911 in a Galco Fletch OWB holster, my shirt tucked in, and walking around the store for about an hour (mostly upstairs in the gun area) I am 100% sure they ALL noticed the fact that I was Carrying. I noticed a couple salesmen checking me out. NOT A WORD. I felt comfortable doing this. Here is my carry again. Hard NOT to notice it. :)

Yea that pic was with my regular old beat up belt that I use around the house and yard. I have a better one for when I go out. I just took the pic to show the carry rig. :)
Dave

I do the same sometimes especially when puttin' around the house and yard.
I've messed up plenty of nice belt that are all hanging in the closet.

Good luck and keep us posted on your OC ventures. Frankly, when I CC and the darn thing sticks out from under my shirt, I could care less. That we are law abiding and respectfull should be enough for the rest.

I dont understand how it is possible/okay for anyone to confiscate your weapon if you are legally open carrying. What is all the fuss about possible confiscation?

I've never had a problem OC here in Salem. I usually OC when I walk my dog to the park. There is school on the way that I avoid walking by though. If I remember right it is now legal to oc on school grounds but I obviously don't want to test that. If anyone knows for sure, please do speak up.
