I have a buyer from Oregon so I need an Orefon FFL to do the transfer. I have only checked with one FFL and was told "$35 plus $10 for the background check". Really? $45 for a transfer of a $275 gun? I am looking (hoping?) for lower cost alternatives. Any suggestions or is that the going rate? Thanks, GG
Where in Oregon? With a location on the buyer someone will be able to make a more specific suggestion for a FFL. The fee a FFL charges varies. Cheapest I've ever heard of was $15. The $10 is a State Police fee and shouldn't vary from FFL to FFL.
Do you know the guy? Can he prove to you that he is an Oregon resident? If he's an Oregon resident can't you just mail it to him? It's a rifle right?
I am in Vancouver and it is a hand gun, I know I have to drive it to Portland to the FFL holder. I was just hoping to hear of someone doing transfers for say, $20-$25? I know Oregon has a mandatory $10 background check but I thought $35 + 10 was high and wad hoping for $10 or $15 +10. Just trying to save a few dollars. Any other dealers out there?
This thread lists some fees, its a little old but still useful. Most of the places are around Portland. http://www.northwestfirearms.com/fi...ews/7882-transfer-fees-kieths-gun-broker.html
Thanks Drew, that was a help. I am going with A Cut Above Pawn on Beaverton Hillsdale highway. Just a$10 back ground check on the buyer. I called and spoke with them this morning. Regards, GG
I have used A Cut Above Pawn before. $10 for the transfer, 10$ for the background check. $20 total. Hard to beat.
Well OK, Thanks. That's one way to look at it. Yes, it would make things simpler. I wound up driving to A Cut Above Pawn in Beaverton and did the transfer for $20.
