Look. Your ak is on the chopping block with my ar. My point is that first it's the assault rifle. Next it's your beloved 30/30. By the way marlin is nothing to brag about. Not the point. When they start taking away our right to bear arms... It becomes everyone's problem

Everyone wants the forbidden fruit. If they were banning Glocks tomorrow, everyone would try to get one more today.

Shame, shame on you for even thinking that:angry:

RV,I've already thought that these would be the guns that will see more time, since ammo will be too expensive and hard to replace.
I love my singe actions and lever guns.
Which reminds me,I need to start panic buying powder

That will work just fine until some psycho goes to a mall turkey shoot with a couple of levers, his belt full of wheel guns and a pocketful of speedloaders. What will we switch to then, machetes? :)

I have a rather even mixt of bolt, levers, semi-auto rifles (AR/AK/SKS), semi-auto pistols and revolvers. I like them all. Don't wanna give up any of them.

There are many of us who have little or no interest in "assault rifles", who don't hoard AR15 magazines, or buy and burn huge quantities of ammo. I went through that stage to a small degree many years ago, and it just doesn't interest me any more. I like walnut and blued steel, but of course I still support the right for you to own your AR rifle, out of principle.

I do agree, there are many different types of shooting sports out there. It's worth while to try something new and see what you think. For example I used to have no interest in black powder, but in the last few years discovered cap and ball revolvers are a lot of fun.

Different people are interested in firearms from often quite different perspectives. Some hunt or keep a gun for self defense, and a gun is just a tool, like a bat is for baseball. Some are into "tactical"; the ARs and all the tactical rails and gear really get them going. Some are collectors of one type or another, and some just like tinkering with old guns. I have a good friend in law enforcement who really like the tactical/SWAT stuff. It's useful to remember that not everyone has the same perspective as you.

I understand you weren't talking politics, but it's also good to realize that not every gun enthusiast shares the same political perspective. Many/most of us believe that we have the right to own guns, and will stick to that principle even if the proposed legal changes won't affect us personally.

Many among us, on the other hand, see it quite differently. They like guns and enjoy the shooting sports, but have a faith that benevolent Glorious Leader is working towards their shared goal of that wonderful socialist utopia, so if He wants bad guns gone then so be it. They may not like it personally, but after all it's for the good of mankind, don't you know? I've found that here in the northwest many gun owners are not necessarily gun rights supporters. Not meaning to bash anyone or stir anything up, just saying that we've all got our own opinions so there's little point in getting too worked up about it. You can't change a person's mind by yelling at them.

Sorry for the thread drift there. To bring it back; sure, try something new. Cowboy action shooting is fun. Personally I like the old M1 Garand. Reminds me, my GCA journal came a couple days ago and I haven't taken the time to read it yet.

can we, as a gun community, please stop using the term "assault rifles"?
we're just following along with the brainwashing that's being set forth... unless it's a true assault rifle: selective fire. i'm reasonably sure 99% of the time someone says "assault rifle" now, even gun people, they're talking about a semi-auto or anything that looks 'evil'

i'm just cranky... going to fire up my assault coffee maker now.

Like when they canceled original formula Coke. It is human nature to want what you can't have.

The easiest way to chase away a female you are pursuing is to be available, attentive and needy. Act nonchalant and distant, not really that interested at all, that you have better things to do, and she come crawling.
