Lol. JMB designed and shot a multitude of weapons.
Gaston was a curtain rod manufacturer with non-shooting friends.

Looking at who was most copied, "21.5" (?) degrees lost. Big time.
Much to the chagrin of heavy metal lovers, 'ol Gaston started a firearms revolution.

It isn't even really the seven degrees off plumb, it's that stupid hump on the back strap that offends so many shooters. Similarly, most 1911 shooters don't prefer the arched mainspring housing depicted.

I can understand that. My Gen 5 G19 has the backstrap with the beavertail installed and the hump is pretty much negated. Feels absolutely perfect to me...

Also take that diagram and draw a straight line from the tang to the trigger. This displays how you have to position your trigger finger with a proper high purchase on the pistol.
The glocks is angled downward.
The 1911 is straight across.
Hence why glocks sights come up "pointed high" because its not a natural position and we compensate for the feeling by resting our wrist to align better with our finger.
This is the same reason why many hate the a2 grip.
This also probably why so many gun shop cowboys hold the gun low like idiots, they want to rest their finger in line with the trigger because its comfortable and natural. Same reason i like the magpul k2 and bcm mod 0 grips.

The next alternative is to lean forward which adjusts your forearm reletive to your wrist, which again releieves your wrists uncomfortable cant.

Not everyone experiences this but its real for some. I noticed this with all the ar's ive shot with a2's and the glocks. Call me what you want, even a weak 223 hurts my wrist after a couple mags with an a2 grip.
Honestly thinking about it grip angle probably isnt relevent,
I think the trigger alingment with the tang is more important, if you have a grip angle like the glock the trigger should sit higher not lower.

re: "if someone else grabs it, it just doesn't seem to feel right."

another one of those subjective "depends on a lot of variables" issues don't you think?

The Glock grip angle story that I read somewhere goes like this...
When Gaston Glock was designing G17 he wanted feedback on grip angle.
So out of wood, he mocked up a G17 shape with an adjustable grip angle.
He passed it around to all of his friends/associates and carefully recorded their preferred angles.
21.5 degrees won.

Then I guess he should have called it the G21.5... ;)

squirrel!
Sorry ADD.

Squirrel guns!!!

I don't see a difference... o_O

its like a penis, when you grab your own , it fits your hand perfectly but when you grab someone else, it just doesn't seem to feel right.

There ya go... :p

I can't tell anything about grip angle... I just know I can't shoot fer sch!t. BTW, as I aged and my forearms started getting weaker due to not as much work/labor, I noticed I started drawing my hands in...more of a Weaver style stance... because I didn't know crap about the push/pull needed to perform a proper Weaver, my shooting really deteriorated. Now I'm doing those strengthening exercises of late-night porn sites and my grip is improving, but my sight is getting worse!! :p:D

1911s are too thin... so there's that...

There are many things I don't like about Glocks, but the grip angle is not one of them. :p

I don't like the triggers, I don't like striker fired pistols in general of any make. To be fair I don't like the curved trigger on my CZ P-01 either...I Really want to change it and improve on the creep and take-up as well. My Ruger SR1911 however I absolutely love the factory trigger in it. It's like having a SSA-E trigger in a pistol...smooth short light first stage takeup that comes to a easily felt stop, pull a lb or two harder and a nice crisp break. no creep what so ever.

Finally I don't like the lack of a safety or at least a de-cocker on a glock.

I suppose I could see some being uncomfortable with wrist angles...but for those people 99% of guns would be uncomfortable with them. Especially traditional wood stock/grip guns... those can't your wrists more than any other type of firearm.

Guns are like cars....

Some of us can shoot the bubblegum out of them, regardless of design - and some can't;).

The Prius and Hipoint are the exceptions - who in their right mind would buy either:p:D

I would buy a HiPoint to throw on the floor of the truck or under the seat or maybe the HiPoint carbine behind the truck bench... I wound never never never ever own a Prius, even if I was given one. I'm a beer drinkin truck drivin man, not a champagne glass pinkie up kinda guy!!! :p

My 1903 kills my wrist i have to chicken wing it. My ar i can keep my elbow tucked

if you are a person with bad wrists, you should focus maybe more on grip angle and size of the grip.

For the rest of the world, it's like suppressors and HiPoints. Some it matters, some it doesn't.

I though personally fond of the [blocked for premium content] grip angle that is found on [blocked for premium content] type of pistols. The more natural you can find your pointer hand angle like in a [blocked for premium content] pistol, the better you will be matching up to fit your hand style.

I find [blocked for premium content] more comfortable than [blocked for premium content] when it comes to angles.

That's just my opinion.

the shorter 19 the hump bothers me, but on the 17 it doesn't, but it's better with the back strap. I shot my Gen3 17 Without just fine, although I hated the finger grooves..I was about to have the trigger guard undercut to give my fat middle finger more room, then the Gen 5s came out without finger grooves:s0155:... preordered the 19x and had it the day it was released..better trigger and fits my paws perfectly...found some black gen5 back straps to add some contrast and originality... love it!
It will go in for RMR cut when I get around to it.

grip angles are like pizzas, personal preference is everything...
....even though all are good, personal taste says some are gooder than others.

Now, what I really "don't get".... Opera .... man-buns .... cricket ... and string cheese.
