I'm sorry to hear about this @Nicole G, my condolences.

It sounds like the people here have you taken care of, but if you need any advice or guidance feel free to start a private conversation with me (just hover/click my name and click "start conversation").

I am so sorry for you loss. I have been with my wife for 34 years and can't imagine life without her.I hope you have friends or family around you at this sad time to help you.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

If you post pictures on here, members will give you an idea of value- That said, with some firearms, a difference in stamping or number of screws in a frame, can make a dramatic difference in value, for example early revolvers- In which case there more specialist sources, like the Smith-Wesson or Colt forums, where they'll be able to give you a more accurate valuation.
It may seem overwhelming, and the last thing you want to spend time time on, but the good news is that most people on the forums are friendly, helpful and honest.
As far as selling- on this site would probably be easiest, local buyers and easy, legal transactions to verified "good guys" through your local FFL gunstore or pawnbrokers, that shouldn't cost you anything.
This should be a lesson to us to keep some kind of easy record of our firearms, ( or anything else valuable ), just in case- just a strip of tape on the box with a description and rough value or a file of photos with a similar description.

As others have said, it appears you have overwhelming offers of help so I will just offer my condolences for your loss.

It is refreshing to see so many stepping up and offering their help with no expectations in return. I am proud of all the NW forum members that have done so. It is things like this that set this forum apart from others. I am glad that officer steered you to this forum as this place has the best chances of finding good, hard-working folk that will help a neighbor even if they don't know them.

Sorry for you loss! I would start writing down and making a list of whats there. Yes all guns are loaded, dont touch the trigger. If you dont know how to check and unload, take pictures of them and we can help you here.

There is also "Jack the Dog:

I'm not sure what his consignment fees are, but he tends to get high bids at auction. That said you would probably get more selling them yourself- just that might take more time and effort on your part and it might be something you'd rather not deal with.

I'd start by posting here first and have people then steer you. Best of luck !

"1911 addicts" as well, most everyone has who is into firearms has 1 or 2 1911s or 10 or 12! Most gun guys are very honest & willing to help out for the cause. Many of us were gun guys before the political scientist thought it would be popular to chastise all gun guys for the actions of a very, very few. Of the wackos, I think it safe to say, most all have mental issues & either on or not on proper medications.

And I would be remiss & properly given the "look" by my daughters if I were not to to say proudly that not all gun guys are guys. Many are actually awesome girls, women, females. Any one, maybe many remember the song Thank God for little girls, because they grow up and become...?, well I forgot exactly, but as I adlib, they become big girls.

I lost my wife to cancer more than 4 years ago now, she would have no clue what I have & what best to do with them.
I have plans for them all to go to my children & grandchildren. Every time they go shooting or hear a shot, they will hear me giggling like a little girl. Kind of like every time I hear thunder, I laugh, it makes me think God is laughing at me because he gave me GIRLS & a sense of humor.

In parting, Please forgive me if I have stumbled on the thread. I started out on the path anyway.
Thank you Mrs, rest assured the cream of the membership will raise for anyone asking for some help or maybe some advice.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most. Peace!

Very sorry for your loss.
If you don't want the hassle of selling things individually, Glenn at Click NW Arms has purchased estates in the past and is very fair in the dealings I've had with him. If you're interested his number is 503-899-2575.

Hello community-
I was referred to this site by a Tigard police officer when I called to ask what I could do with my late husband's ammunition and things.

I am not knowledgeable about what he left behind an am seeking help in making sure his ammunition, gun belts, gun accessories, etc go to a lawful gun owner and not someone with bad intentions.
Was hoping to place an ad in your classified section but, am unsure the best way to do that.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Nicole G
Times are tough when this happens.

If I had somebody I knew in your position, I'd tell them to take some time, 6 months or a year to let things air out. After that, hit up some respected individuals you know and trust to get you some fair market values. I would not take anything to a shop, consignment or anyone who would buy everything as a 'lot'.

There are individuals on this site who will give you objective values for everything, even if they are interested in buying it. They won't low ball you and that's why they are respected and trusted. I have backup plans for who will hold what of my assets if the unfortunate happens, one for the NFA items, one for the firearms and one for the reloading equipment and gear. They will manage what can be sold and what stays in the family.

There is a lot of good advice above and I hope you find the help you are looking for.
