it can be expensive if you don't know someone who raises them. I don't know of anyone in the PDX area, but they can be had special from hi end markets. My dad used two over winter 2 pairs let them breed in spring I think ,fill the freezer then seperate them till he needed more. we thought everything was chicken.:s0155:
 
I did find a guy here in Corvallis that does fryers and I took him up on two of them.

They are currently in the fridge marinating. I don't know if I'll do them again this way but it was basically $5/lb
 
Is that cost before or after it's boned and cut up?

His price was like $2.50 live per lb
or
$5/lb skinned, cleaned etc.
Basically ready to marinate.

Not something I'll do on a weekly basis but worth trying. (due to the $$$$ side of it)
 
Shy Ann Meats in Oregon City sells fresh rabbitt.

Rabits cannot contract Rabies(weird lil factoid) and ticks do not act as resevoirs of bubonic plague, Fleas do, And then mainly in the ground squirell population only in southern oregon.
