this is a long read, but addicting. It's a detailed account from a SAR guy about searching for a lost family in Death Valley.
The Hunt for the Death Valley Germans
There's a few take aways I got from this.
The tenacity of volunteers to solve a riddle is really interesting and a good perspective.
And towards the end the reality of what that family went through hit me like a truck.
Thinking about what that situation must have been like for a father or mother to try to save your family, your children. Maybe coming to the realization your going to die, your children are going to die, and there's nothing you can do.
Having young children myself, that senario hit me hard.
