How to find date of manufacture?

My father-in-law gave me his old .22 revolver by High Standard called the 'Hombre'. I know it was only made from 1970 to 1972, but does anyone know a way to find out its actual date of manufacture with the serial number? I know a book has to exist that lists this stuff???

I found out the revolver was made in 1970...the year I was born...so the gift from my father-in-law just aquired some additonal sentimental value!
