Here is what the rifle I ordered looks like. Certainly repairable with a new barrel, cut-off assembly, bolt body, and firing pin. The welds are certainly not bad on the front ring, doesn't even looked to have touched the receiver much. The weld at the back will show under a refinish, but not bad. The stock will take some creative gluing, but it should be solid after I'm done with it.

Good haul at the gun show today. Got a few books and a pile of 03a3 parts for just about $100.

Nice hunting. I've got to find a good bolt assembly with turned down handle for a scope. My idea is mount an old Weaver 8x or 10x on my 03A1 and make it a vintage-ish long range system.

I might be able to hook ya up, I just replaced my bent handled one with a modifyed handle bolt I found locally here.

A little further on the resurrection of the drill rifle today. Got the barrel pulled, ground down the weld a little better, and got the destroyed cut-off part replaced. Tomorrow it gets a new barrel hopefully, see if I can repair the stock, and start to reassemble...

Stripped the cheesecloth and nasty cosmoline off the barrel I bought off a friend at the last gun show. Turns out it's a beautiful and pristine Remington 7-44 2-groove. I'm excited to get this one installed and see how the accuracy compares to my 4-grooves...



Not a great photo, but you get the idea. Going to need to put the barrel on the lathe and touch the shoulder so it times correctly. Should be a shooter!

Picked up a M1903 Greek return today from Cabela's in Tulalip. 1938 dated barrel. Fairly clean, no pitting. just about 600 plus tax.

The world is getting awefull ugly, let's just hang here for a while and shoot da bull! I don't have any pictures of my current 03 project, but it's slowly comming along, will be going full steam ahead when I get back to OryGun and will update with pictures!
In the mean time, I found a spair bolt with sportster type bolt handle and over size knob to fit to it when I get back!
