Call me lazy but I never cared about the burn rings on the cylinder.
My guns are shooters not safe queens or show pieces, I just clean the barrel and each cylinder with a bore snake and call it good.

^. This pretty much. Wipe down with ballistol after shooting. Occasionally clean the barrel and cylinders. Done.

Please,, NO steel wool on guns for cleaning purposes.
If you must use a "wool", use bronze wool.
Steel wool constantly sheds microscopic bits that get everywhere in the innards, and then they rust.
The bronze wool is softer and not so harsh on surfaces, while still having enough abrasiveness to do the job.
You use a brass brush in the barrel, right,,.
Rubbing steel wool, (hard,) on a stainless surface, (soft,) also causes a breakdown in the surface of the stainless, making it more prone to discoloration and oxidation.
