Just found out, apparently some people are pushing to make the Mt. Hood region a National Park:

    http://www.mounthoodnationalpark.org/

    - no hunting
    - no target shooting
    - no snowmobiles
    - no mushroom picking

Unsure how realistic it is, but apparently all they need is one Oregon rep in Congress to get things rolling.

Never happen way to much development on the mountain. It would have to be just small sections high up etc.

    This needs close monitoring.
They could incorporate all non built up areas with cutouts and slots and tie up much of the forest area around there. They have done it in other areas. Usually UN/Socialist Gov land grabs.

This proposal is nothing new, its been around for a few years now and is gaining no traction. The majority of outdoor recreationalists, specifically hikers, backpackers and mt climbers, are opposed to National Parks due to over regulations and additional access fees and restrictions.
