Brent Weisberg, a spokesman for the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office, said the firearm Huricks used to threaten store employees was made of metal tubing, screws, springs and other items readily available at hardware stores. He said that based on testing conducted by the Oregon State Police, it was determined that the firearm could be used as a deadly weapon.

The DA's office was also vocal about the type of gun Huricks used.

"In each incident, he used what appeared to be a shotgun or a long rifle. His proclivity toward homemade firearms is particularly concerning because no laws prevent him from purchasing the materials needed to construct future weapons and potentially victimize more people," Collins said.

They must have edited the article... here's what it says now.

How are you going to "pass a law" to outlaw all of the above? How about locking up criminals, ESPECIALLY REPEAT OFFENDERS, instead of "revolving door justice"?

DUMBA$$E$!!

Where there is a will, there is a way!
You cannot legslate the hearts of men, especially those bent to cause harm, or those who need self protection when all other means are made illegal!

Here's a crazy thought....how about we eliminate threats to society swiftly and with decisiveness.

In case I wasn't clear I meant we need to make the firing squad a thing again...or just hang them up. Either way works.

Is it?
Is it "particularly concerning"?
To whom, exactly, is it particularly concerning?
The fact that basic hardware-store goods are available to the public concerns this guy? Personally, I'm much (MUCH) more concerned about grandstanding politicians who make stupid statements to the press without the slightest hint of self-awareness. This is precisely the kind of doosh that people who say "There oughtta be a law... " flock to.

And golly, Mr Collins... if only there were a way to prevent this guy from constructing weapons and potentially victimizing more people. Too bad there's no place to put convicted criminals to keep them away from polite society. Sort of like a zoo, but for bad guys.

Oh well... time to pass a new law. That seems to be pretty easy.

Install NICS computers in all hardware stores? "Sorry, Sir. I can't sell you that spring, screws or pipe." "No on the pitchfork." "The machete and hatchet are also out." "How about settling for that bar of candy?"
