@terdog thanks for sharing. Reminds me of the conversation I had with my youngest.

My daughter was born 6 years after I left the service, so she never knew the Military life. She asked me this evening if all I did was operate the Submarine. I replied, well when you're on a Submarine you don't just operate it, you fix any thing that goes wrong or gets broken. Because you and the crew are all you have out there. Sometimes the fix has to be creative.

Way to be creative.
 
Just a followup.

Its been a couple weeks now since this "fix" was done. I'm happy to report that the pad and the pistol are getting along very well. Absolutely zero wear on the gun.
The coloring still looks 99% OEM.
the long term prognosis is very favorable. ;)
 
Heres an update.
After a month of EVERYDAY carry, things are lookin great. The pad is staying put too.

As Chuck Yeager would say, A OK.
