I'm planning on shooting Speed Steel and Steel Challenge type events with a Ruger Mark IV 75th Anniversary model that has a 6.88" barrel. Some events seem to have participants draw from an holster. Any recommendations for a holster that will fit that long barrel? I'd probably prefer something slick like Kydex or other molded plastic.

I have one of these, I ended up modifying it to accept a Safariland QLS, but it works great. It was also a little long for my barrel, so I trimmed it to the right length.
I can't remember whom I bought it from - but it was one of these. I think they are exactly the same holster.

Also, all the steel matches that I've shot, (TCGC, ARPC, DRRC etc.) do not require rimfire pistols to be drawn from the holster. They always start from the low ready.

A holster can come in handy moving from stage to stage without having to drag a case with you.

I thought that was the case, but the rule wasn't super clear at a couple of the matches I was looking at. I'd rather have it and not need it than vice versa!
