It is interesting to see someone like that thinking beyond their day to day life. Unfortunately, I think if some Hollywood craze strikes up then it's going to negatively effect the market for preparedness supplies.

And he admits he tasted what life could be like after a major national or international calamity when he, Moore and her kids were left without power for 14 hours at their mountain cabin last Christmas.

ZOMG!!! 14 HOURS!!!!

How did he survive that???? :s0112:

If he thought that sucked, he should try being without power for weeks on end.

So just thinking about this a little and how it affects others. If hollywood no longer has faith in Obama politics and is taking steps to prep this is a huge change in the left wing. This gets around and the prep movement starts in the liberal universities ect it will sound a real "change" in the left.

Imagine those who voted for bigger government and socialism realizing they are on their own and have to be self reliant. Government has failed them, how interesting.

yeah, and they will still tow the line for their failing system. They are too blind and proud to admit that their ideals have led to this. They will blame something or someone else and pretend in their little fantasy worlds that this is some natural occurrence and that there is no way that they could possibly be wrong.

Give some credit where credit is due, though. We learn from the article that he's a gun owner and committed to becoming better at hand-to-hand. How prepared is he? More than me or you? I haven't a clue, but it's pretty likely he's more prepared than 90% of the population already. From his Wikipedia page:

"Kutcher is a self described fiscal conservative and social liberal."

Good for him. He's certainly no Sean Penn.

I think it is absolutely ridiculous how many here paint groups with a broad brush of assumed behavior. Unless you personally know someone how can you profess to speak on their values.? I can't for an instant believe every person associated with Hollywood is a raving left winger..anymore than I can assume from some here that all gun owners are narrow minded right wing bigots who place labels willy nilly based on nothing more than ignorance and THEIR assumed moral supremacy.

Good on him for being on it. I don't think we should be belittling someone who is thinking on these lines at all. Nice find JJ. Here's the full text.

"Ashton Kutcher is getting toned and tough - so he can fend for himself and look after his family following an Armageddon-type crisis.

The movie star and producer, who is married to health nut Demi Moore, fears a major U.S. energy meltdown is nigh and he's trying to get superfit so he can deal with the chaos that will follow a blackout or worse.

Kutcher discovered combat training Krav Maga last year as he prepared to tone up for his role in Killers and now he's obsessed with running, Bikram yoga and Muay Thai fighting with the French national champion - and he insists he's committed to his extreme workouts, so he can dominate in desperate times.

The 32 year old tells Men's Fitness magazine, "It will not take much for people to hit the panic button. The amount of convenience that people rely on based on electricity alone. You start taking out electricity and satellites, and people are going to lose their noodle.

"And people are going to go, 'That land's not yours, prove that it's yours,' and the only thing you have to prove it's yours is on an electronic file... People's alarm systems at their homes will no longer work, Neither will our heating, our garbage disposals, hot-water heaters that run on gas but depend on electricity.

"What happens when all our modern conveniences fail? I'm going to be ready to take myself and my family to a safe place where they don't have to worry... All of my physical fitness regimen is completely tailored around the end... I stay fit for no other reason than to save the people I care about."

And he admits he tasted what life could be like after a major national or international calamity when he, Moore and her kids were left without power for 14 hours at their mountain cabin last Christmas.

He adds, "I got my guns out. We made a fire. We went to the grocery store... People were rolling in and out, clearing out all the shelves... It was like a preview.""

I was pointing out the predictable actions of liberals in general. I was not being a bigot or trying to be morally superior. Simply stating my observations of liberals and their actions when confronted with the fact that they might be wrong or made a wrong decision. Not saying that it doesn't happen on the conservative side of things, but TO ME it just seems more prevalent in liberal circles. I have seen this stuff enough in my few years in this world that the pattern is very clear and quite predictable. I am not sure if you are playing devil's advocate here or I may have offended you, but I make no apologies. I stated my opinion, and I stand behind it.

I think one are makes a mistake if you judge groups you know nothing about on a few vocal members. Judge individuals by what they say and do...fine. Attribute the attitudes and actions of a few to an entire group and you only feed into the self-destructive cycle this country is going through.

Gotta tip my hat to him for his awareness. Kind of makes me wonder how aware many in those circles really are... seems that most people want to ensure they continue a comfortable lifestyle and endless money and means would certainly give the ability to do so and when the SHTF. If nothing else the uber rich will be the ones on private jets out of the country.

Sounds like a cheesy @$$ media attention stunt for an upcoming movie of his. Next 6 to 12 months I am going to say he is going to star in a movie about a preparedness/survivalism theme.

Not holding my breath for any Hollywood improvement.
