I tend to be a bit skeptical and I need to have a pistol refinished. I understand Cerakote is supposed to be more scratch resistant than duracote (I have a firearm which has been duracoted and it scratches easily) I don't want to pay for cerakote and get duracote instead.

I'm not going back to the shop which refinished the duracoted firearm.

How can I tell one from the other once the finish has been applied ?

You can ask NIC for some sample panels so you have a "known" sample to compare against. Their panels are for color reference only, so doing scratch tests on them is not going to tell you anything.

Send it to me, I'll make sure it's Cerakote as I don't do Duracoat. :)
