Dear Californ ia NRA Member:
O FFICE OF THE DIRECTOR
STATE AND LoCAL AFFAIRS DIVISION
As a Cal ifornia resident, you have probably become accustomed to receiving legislative alerts
warning that your state legislature is debating new gun control bills.
But we've never seen anything like this.
As I write this letter, both the Assembly and Senate are poised to debate and pass dozens of new
gun control bills- some of them incredibly restrictive- which only affect responsible and law-abiding
citizens, not violent criminals.
Many of these misguided bills have already progressed in the legislative process. Some of these
bills have already been voted out of committee, and others have been passed by one entire legislative
chamber or the other. We must act now- there's very little time.
This steamroller js already moving to crush yoyr rights. If we don't stop jt. yoyr rights will be
destroyed beyond recognition.
What's at stake'? A ban on your right to self-defense in the home. A sweeping new gun ban,
encompassing millions of more guns. A dangerous effort to erode hunting and the millions of dollars in
economic activity and conservation that it brings- statewide. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Let
me describe just a few or these attacks Til Sacramento on your rignts.
• S.B. 108 strips your right to self-defense in the home, by mandating that guns be locked away
regardless of whether anyone is present. So when you hear that crash of glass breaking in the
night, you' ll have to hope that the home invaders will wait pol itely while you fumble to open your
locked gun safe- if you can even get to it.
• S.B. 374 expands the failed and flawed California gun ban to cover millions of more guns,
including all semiautomatic rifles with detachable magazines. Fi le this under "if we can't figure out
how to ban the guns we don't like, we' ll just ban them all."
• A.B. 711 erodes hunting in California by mandating the use of ammunition that's not widely
available. Banning lead ammunition for hunting will force hunters to use ammunition that is much
more expensive, and is hard to find on today's market. And if you think you can just buy it online,
see the next bill below and think again.
SH71/SS38 NRA-ILA | ILA Home
• S.B. 53 bans all online and mail order sales of ammunition in California, and strips away the privacy rights
of ammunition buyers by requiring a purchase permit, registration and thumbprint for ALL ammunition
purchases. Gun stores won't have any time to sell guns if they have to put every ammunition purchaser
through this wringer of red tape.
• S.B. 293 gives bureaucrats the power to ban handguns. It would take ALL existing handguns off the
market in California if a state bureaucrat approves the sale of so-called "owner-authorized" handguns.
That's exactly how the legislature managed to mandate "microstamping," which has now effectively
frozen the list of "approved" handguns in California.
• S.B. 396 criminalizes the possession of standard, factory ammunition magazines. All magazines with a
capacity of more than ten rounds would be completely banned, even the ones that are "grandfathered"
now. Owners would be subject to arrest, and the magazines could be confiscated and destroyed.
And as I said, that's just a sampling. There are literally dozens of anti-gun bills that attack your freedom
with bans, taxes, permits and registration, regulations and restrictions. Again, these deeply flawed bills would
do nothing to target crime or violent criminals, but simply target the responsible gun owners and sportsmen
in the Golden State. The debate is underway now.
Now is the time to make your voice heard! You must contact your lawmakers in the state Assembly
and Senate. Tell the politicians in Sacramento to oppose any new restrictions on your rights. Then contact

to Steamroll Your Rights
Politicians in Sacramento are debating new restrictions on your Second
Amendment rights, but they're not being honest about the real stakes in this
debate. They want you to believe that your rights aren't at risk. But now
they're not only trying to ban certain rifles, but also ban handguns, erode
hunting and strip your right of self-defense in the home. The stakes in this
debate are real, and they affect the freedoms of all Californians.
Here are just a few highlights of the steamroller headed for your rights:
S.B. 108: Strips your right to self-defense in the home, by mandating that
guns be locked away regardless of whether anyone is present.
S.B. 374: Expands the failed California gun ban to cover millions of more
guns, including all semiautomatic rifles with detachable magazines.
A.B. 711: Erodes hunting in California, by mandating the use of

S.B. 396: Criminalizes the possession of standard, factory ammunition

There's much more- literally dozens of bills that attack your
rights with bans, taxes, permits and registration, regulations and
restrictions. The debate is underway right now in the state legislature.

I wonder how many friends who still live down there will be relocating if this crap passes? A friend who runs a gun shop near Folsom said that even if it passes there are already pending law suits challenging the constitutionality of these bills but it will just leave everything in limbo for who knows how many years while the courts make up their mind. Certainly glad I don't live in that pit of despair.

It is only a matter of time before the decease spreads to OR and WA, if the number of gun enthusiasts does not climb.

Believe me or not, I think that ordinary liberal gun-grabbers are genuinely good people. They dislike death, blood and violence, they care about climate change and the poor and the minorities. So they dislike guns too, since guns = death, blood and violence, at least in the movies and newspapers.

So they find guns offensive and repulsive, they would never own one themselves just like you would never own a poisonous snake. However, being unarmed makes them feel unsafe since they end up the only unarmed in our armed society. So in order to restore the equality they want to ban all guns and make the entire country one huge "Gun Free Zone", so that their chances of getting assassinated are not any higher than yours or mine.

This is precisely what socialists did in economics - when everybody is equally poor, there arises a common feeling of equality and fairness.

"Gun Free Zones" are only laughable if there are few of them. If there are lots of them, they do "work" - they spread the risk, making everybody equally vulnerable and police-dependent. Which liberals already are, by choice, and they need company.

This country indeed has a mental health problem related to guns. It is the anti-gun paranoia/phobia that is best cured not by political campaigning or "open carry marches", but rather by exposing as many people as possible to the firearms culture. It has a very strong magic.

Kalifornika is a waste and we should give it to Mexico and put up barbed wire at the north and east borders to the US. The state is a lost cause and infested with marxists and communists. It has been getting worse since the 50's and now beyond saving.
We should have relocated the Berlin wall there with all its gun towers. They moved the London bridge to somewhere in Texas I believe, so why not the wall along CA. :D

I will have to disagree to a point. I distinguish between those people who don't believe they are effected by the gun issue yet talk for the sake of talking and those truly vehement for gun control. The later are very closed minded and unless your lifestyle is approved by them, they will turn a snobby, holier than thou attitude towards you. These are the extremist but let them gain momentum and it will become the norm. Marijuana movement, Occupy Wall Street, Vietnam protests, etc. are all examples of the few influencing the many. Left alone it will become public opinion. Those that yell the loudest often gets the most attention.

Those who don't have a strong opinion or who aren't affected can be persuaded but those above are closed minded and the 'discussion' will often come down to, "they don't want to take your guns away, they don't want to take your guns away, they don't want to take your guns away...' ad nauseam.

I believe urbanites need to step out of the city and turn off their cell phones for a week. You will surprise of how seldom you will think of petty stuff as buying the latest iphone, what's playing in the movie theater, who's doing what, where, etc. Being in the city, you are constantly exposed to competitive lifestyle (shops, tv ads, other people), opinions of others and the base need to conform and to those who yell the loudest. Social indoctrination.

I joined the forum recently because my wife and I are planning on a PNW relocation for retirement. At this point, and for the forseeable future, the CA legislature is dominated by gun control extremists. Eventually, say within 10 years, I expect gun rights in CA to be reduced to the lowest level that the courts will allow:

-The only new handguns that will be available will be revolvers.
-New long guns will be limited to bolt or lever-actions or single-shots.
-Non-FFL sales of ammo will be prohibited.
-Both gun and ammo sales will have heavily taxed.
-Possession of guns or ammo will require ongoing training and a state permit.

OP, what's with all the weird formatting and typos???

Where did this email/letter come from? Did you read the actual CA bills?

SB108 - is only when the person is away from home - Bill Text - SB-108 Firearms.
SB 53 - doesn't ban all internet ammo sales, only that they have to go through a dealer

I'm definitely PISSED AT California but I'm also pissed when people try to make the situation worse. The two bills above are not represented accurately in the original post which means I don't trust that source. The bills suck but not to the extent that it's represented.

Just my $.02
