I don't read this particular fish wrap, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

One claim did get my attention though:

"I-594 closes that criminal-check loophole and makes it tougher for bad guys. And when purchasers comply, the sale will be exempt from sales tax. The good guys (not to mention the public more broadly) benefit."

You never pay sales tax on used goods anyway, so how is that possibly relevant?
 
U don't pay sales tax on used goods? That's not how it is for me, my ffl charges sales tax even if I buy a gun used off the forums. Same as cars, the state can tax the same car over and over again each time its sold..

If you trade in an old vehicle on a new one you only pay the tax on the difference.
