Everyone can hate me, but I'll go ahead and say it; Henry's are junk. Feeding issues on the center fires, fit and finish, plastic barrel bands on the 22's, breaking screws, etc. They are popular because they are cheap. They have a cult following. Everyone says they have great customer service, mostly because of all the dealing with them over the high return rate, are better because they are made in America, see Miroku Browning's and Winchester's, and are affordable, you get what you pay for. These days Henry makes Remlins look like quality guns.

I just bought an H001 and had about 8 rounds out of 100 not chamber. Sounds from other posts here I should call cust service. Don't want to think about sending the firearm to NJ!! I am 73 and havent owned a gun in almost 45 years. Thought I was buying a reliable factory tested rifle. Good news I bought at Walmart and got almost $100 off in employee discounts.

Listen to me now and believe me later. Walmart gets all the defected guns. I bought a Marlin 60 there (circa 2008) and took it apart before even firing one single round through it. Not only was it not completely machined but it was missing parts inside also. That being said I believe that the rifle would have functioned but why deal with that at all? I called Marlin customer service and they sent me the fully finished parts but I say, when purchasing a firearm from WallyWorld, have a good look at it inside and out before use.

Actually WalMart doesn't get the defective guns, they just buy the cheap models in large quantity. They sell the cheapest model of the cheapest guns, then people act surprised that they got junk.

There is no doubt there has been a somewhat recent spike in problems with Henry and 2018 was a banner year for returns.
The bulk of the problems are with the centerfire models however and specifically some of the new models such as the all weather.
Another possible reason is they simply have spread themselves too thin and this, coupled with very high demand, has caught up with them. Their QC is In question considering many of the problems being reported are with things that should have never left the factory to begin with.
A member on the Henry forum posted his returned Henry had a service # of 18-00007757 - and he took this to mean his was the 7757th return for 2018.
If this is accurate this is an extremely high number of returns for a year.
It has been hypothesized Henry is targeting a mostly non-shooting market with their high number of engraved, commemorative and organizational models.
Bottom line is the number of reported problems and subsequent returns are not a good sign and don't seem to be getting better.
I can honestly say however my 2014 made BBB .357 is excellent on all fronts and feeds and shoots excellently.

If you don't mind evets47 I would like to share your post about your Rifle issue on the Henry forum.
There is currently an active discussion regarding the increasing number of problems being reported with what seems to be unusually high amounts of them being sent back for repair, replacement or refund.
Will this be ok?
My first .22 Magnum lever action Henry had issues with the bullets constantly jamming. My second Henry Golden Boy seems to operate smoothly and without issue so far. My third Henry, a .22 pump action riffle had 20 rounds put through it and the gun jammed open when ejecting the last fired round. I'm sending it back for repair. I'm questioning buying anymore as their quality, fit & finish, and reputation are highly inflated.

There is no doubt a dramatic increase in reported problems with Henry products in general. It seems to be in direct correlation with the number of different models they have been putting
out. Some believe they are not putting enough R&D into the new models along with poor QC.
I have been lucky with my BBB
.357 from 2014 as the fit and finish is excellent and functions very well.
