Here's what I found doing a quick search. Can anyone provide links or names of WA orgs (preferably veteran owned) that are helping Afghanistan refugees in WA get resettled? Would like to help with food, job search, etc.
Thanks,
B
No thanks. Like we need more illiterate dregs of humanity in the WA!
W T GI figured it wouldn't be long until a "patriot" spewed something like the above, and ironically that is your handle. I deleted my previous reply because, frankly, you are not worth anyone's time.
I personally believe that we have a responsibility to some of the Afghans who risked their lives, and their families lives to help the effort.
I just want us to be making sure that that's who we are getting. They should be vetted, checked and checked again.
Unfortunately your view will be pounced upon as racist, bigoted and homophobic as your thinking doesn't fit the narrative you are supposed to live. Very quickly you are told how bad you are for seeing differences in people and your thoughts are considered spewing hate. You are expected to be the lemming and how dare you think different than what you are told to. Come on man, do you think you still live in America where you can think for yourself? No thanks. Like we need more illiterate dregs of humanity in the WA!
Most people only think in the moment and not of the future. The refugees would be better off in a Muslim country that shares their values. Bringing them here sets up a clash of cultures and folks should ask themselves if they want to give up their culture so the refugees can live their Muslim culture.
Do you want to give up the things you love to do to appease another segment of society as they get established?
Folks think we are a melting pot of one America when we think of refugees. Unfortunately we are a divided nation the future is more division rather than diversity.
One could argue that westernization never really took hold in Iran, and that the rapid modernization sponsored by the Shah actually fueled the Islamic revolution. A significant proportion of the population was willing to take to the streets to restore a more traditional version of Iranian culture. The era of the Shah was more of an aberration than a state of normalcy.Culture depends on a time and place. For example, previous to the overthrow of the Shah, Iran was a westernized and very well-off country. I am not saying you are wrong in your opinion - it's just something that I wanted to point out.
