Help with info on Winchester 64A

    a friend inherited this ol .22 and is curious about the date of manufacture and history. Knowing I was a gun nut he came to me for help but it's not my area of expertise. SN is 220714. Any in the know out there? image.jpg

    Looks like a model 62 and serial would put it at 1948. I don't have info on a model 64a but a model 64 is actually a lever action center fire.
    There were 62 and 62a produced from 1932-1958 that were a visible hammer slide action that are a more modern version of the 1890 with a 23" barrel. the "A" version was introduced in 1940.
