I have a handful of AR500 targets (3/8 and 1/2 in thick) that need a 3/4in hole placed in them to accomodate my new target stand. Anyone have the tools needed to help with this?
Hit a local steel fab shop up. Annular Cutter in .750" would do that no problem but the cutters are like $150 each and some effort to set up to cut. The best thing a fab shop might have is an Ironworker (hydraulic press tool) that can punch a .750 hole in that for you. Take this 100 Ton Edwards for about 10 seconds to punch each hole with no issues. Both of these options will make a nice round hold for you. Lastly would use a drill, that's a large hole for a drilling opp. It can be done but would take stepping up from .25" and time. Need a decent drill press or better yet a milling machine. CNC mill would be the ultimate as it can mill a circle into your plates to cut the hole.
Too late now but best to buy them with pre fabbed holes. Be sure to learn about distancing for various calibers, and angling them so you don't get the ugly sort of "feedback"
