I'm building an amd-65 kit. The kit came with the original barrel. The barrel had a tapco extended muzzle brake installed with a pin going through the bottom into the barrel. I assume this was to acheve length so it was not a SBR. I drilled out the pin and replaced the brake with the ak-builder amd extended brake. If I drill the brake and pin it on the way the tapco brake was, is that considered permanent? Am I going to run into any legality problems? I really don't want to have to weld it to the front sight. I'ld like it to look as clean as possible. Any ideas, has anybody out there delt with this issue?

If you blind pin the AK-builder brake one, you should be good to go, you could also tack weld it on from the bottom and clean it up, high temp silver solder will also make it permanent.

Remember beside the 16inch barrel, you also need 6 US parts for 922.

Since the muzzle brake is US made, you only need 5 more (receiver, trigger, disconnect, hammer, pistol grip) and you're good to go.

I really like the amd-65 wood grips so I'm going to clone a set. Will that count as a compliant part?

What do you think? I went with the blind rivet method.

blind pinning is compliant as far as the atf is concerned, silver solder is not.
i tacked welded a crapco muzzle device on my amd65 and that is also compliant.
