Just got a house in Netarts, can anyone direct me to a good (legal) spot for picking mussels? Also looking to forage the occasional Sea Urchin as well. The Cape Lookout tidepools are off limits these days in case anyone use to go there back in the day when it was OK.

I recommend always checking with ODA before harvesting mussels, or any shellfish for that matter. The south coast recently closed mussel harvest due to elevated levels of PSP toxins. It can be a pretty volatile season (open/closed, open/closed), so stay informed. Their website is here: ODA Food Safety Shellfish safety closures. To get the most current status I recommend calling the hotline at: 1-800-448-2474 as it is updated the quickest.
