Help me understand co-witnessing.

With two eyes open, the tube of the aimpoint is not visible. All you see is a dot.

I was faster with the Aimpoint. EOTech reticle was too busy for me and the 1 moa dot felt too small. Sorry if you don't believe it, but it's true.

A cowitnessed sight means your primary sight is occluded with your backup sight. This may be livable but it's not optimal.

optimal for reliability...oh yes it is. HWS fails I have irons shooting in the same spot

I assume you mean it is not optimal because you would rather have 2 seperate zeroed POI's and that makes sense but I would rather lean towards reliability. If I shot out to 300m+ often I would go that route though...eotech for entry and up to 100yds, irons for 300m+
