Happy Monday, everyone! I've been signed up for this forum for 5 years, but today is the day I become an active member! Here specifically to learn more about what everyone prefers for their hiking/woods carry - I've been on a mission to lose a bunch of weight (65 lbs so far since COVID started) and I'm doing it by hiking every day.

Depending on where you hike, the biggest threat are the two legged critters. Cat's/Bears, I usually carry a .357 or 44 mag during hunting season. But for general hiking 9mm/40 are good enough.

Yes -- agree with that wholeheartedly. We have cougars, bears, and this stuff around here.
