Welcome and a big Howdy from Southern Oregon.
Check out WWU in Bellingham, OSU in Corvalis(Beavers), OSU in Ashland, OSU in Bend, and UofO in Eugene(Ducks). There are a lot of good schools in the PNW.
It takes 6 month to get residency in Oregon.
That's what my niece from California did cause she wanted to go to school near us so she chose Ashland.
If you like to snowboard or ski, Bend might be where you want to go.
Mt. Bachelor is just up the hill from Bend.
If you love football, Corvalis or Eugene are good choices.
Your major and/or interests would guide you to the right place.
Almost anywhere up here is more Gun Friendly than urban California.
