First, a thank you to the administrators for hosting and maintaining this resource. Nothing like a good Forum such as Lightfighter.

After living in Florida non-stop for 31 years, we may be moving to Washington (Clark County) and need to get up to speed on what's going on there. Wife is originally from Alaska, has family in Oregon, and I spent my childhood in California, so we've been itching to return West.

I currently own and operate my own firearms training business with 5 contract instructors in Fort Lauderdale. We teach civilian-centric live fire, Force on Force, and Care Under Fire. If this move happens, I'll be selling this business to my instructors and fade into being just a face in the crowd who loves to shoot and train for himself again. Although I average 40 to 60 hours annually of outside training for continuing education purposes, teaching is not the same as taking training and I miss just taking care of myself.

I'm also an amateur radio operator working all the technology, so that will keep me busy as well.

Of course, this is all in addition to my day job! Glad to be here.

P.S. I love all firearms but am particular to the 1911. Here's some pics of mine.

Welcome Aboard. Glad you found the forum.

Also transplanted from Florida, left the South in 1995 and haven't looked back. Still have plenty of family in South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Texas. Really acclimated to having all 4 seasons.

This is the best place to hang out on the internet.

Once we're able to start using the public lands again, check out the organized clean ups. It's the best way to meet the community and learn where and how to use public lands responsibly.

[Edit- We are doing non ODFW supported cleanups at public forests] - check the North Fork Wolf Creek Road thread in resources.

Until then check out Trash No Land.

I would think twice....no a dozen times before moving to Washington. I have lived here all my life and have seen this beautiful state turn in to a S hole due to politics and the illegal gov inslee. Now is not the time to move here....maybe in a few years if we can clean up the gov and get fair honest elections and pro 2A leadership. Here is a link to a little bit of what is going on. https://www.naturalnews.com/2021-09...trike-team-from-covid-quarantine-camp-ad.html

You are not the first person to tell me this, and I appreciate the heads up . . . I really do . . . and everything you said is true.

The way we look at it is threefold:

1) We have a huge job related career opportunity by moving to the PNW. This will be a game changer for our family.

2) Florida will turn blue anyways in the next 2 election cycles (too many CA and NY "transplants," and not enough CA and NY "refugees").

3) We can be of value to Washington because we will bring our pro-2A votes and resources with us.

I moved back out West to the Spokane area 12 years ago. It's my second time here, was stationed at Fairchild thru the 80s. Lived in Pembroke Pines and Cooper City. You will like it out here but this state does love to tax it's populace for everything and our leadership in Olympia is foul. Beautiful area though.

Welcome aboard... :D

I'm sure as an Instructor you have researched the PNW Pros/Con's of firearms...

And rest assured, eventually the Politics will reach all states.

As to whether they go Pro or Con is up to the people...:p:confused:
