Seriously, though, what's going on out there? I've seen at least 12 blackhawks, a few ch46s, ch47s, a few weird old (sea-king?) type helicopters that looked older, and just today a really, really fancy coast guard helicopter, which is flying around right now (Dolphin? It looks bigger.).

Does this have to do with some kind of drill? It's been going on for almost a week. I can't imagine it has to do with the President's visit to Intel.

It was pretty obvious it would be there last Friday when it was announced. He wanted to visit a fab, and Ronler is the main Intel Fab in the area.

saw a batch of about 12 CH47s flying down the Columbia yesterday afternoon up between Woodland and Kalama headed South. Could be a training op.

The CG helo was a HH60. CG version of the Blackhawk. All in support of the President's visit. Probably has a MSST Team on board. Be nice they bite.

update - just saw 3 blackhawks flying north up the river a few minutes ago and now hear a bunch more but cant see them as cloud cover is dropping to about 500 feet above the river.

We had Secret Service crawling all over this place for a week, basically put the entire RA3 side of the campus on lockdown anytime he was on the move.. A major inconvienence for those of us who had to try and work here today, but it was a good photo op and the speech that was given was actually very unpollitical. Well except for the whole budget part which was just smoke and mirrors.

Pot patrol? Frequent visitor on the south coast with anywhere from one to three. Northeast to southwest flights mainly, but sometimes hover the area. Dark olive
drab in color without or muted markings. Some type of frontal probe, maybe flair equipment? Not a clue except they are not Coast Guard, and at times fly below ridgeline and at tree top level. Other times very fast and in formation?

Today the president and his entourage was flown to and from Intel in a pair of CH46s. They were flying VERY low.

I usually don't see many CH47s, mostly CH46s up here. I saw a group of CH46s the other day, and they were flying with a bunch of blackhawks AND those older "sea-king" style helos I mentioned earlier, because I know that they weren't CH53s. Flying semi trucks.

Naw, it wasn't an HH60. I saw it real close up. This was what I posted earlier.

If it was not an HH60, then it was the HH65 Dolphin. I think those are the only two types in service at the moment.

And yeah, was at RA3 later after the visit, seems as if everyone was breathing a sigh of relief, to actually get back to work.

They also fly the MH65 in the HITRON squadrons, but I doubt if they would bring one up here when they have HH60s

I have seen an HH65 around the Hillsboro airport and I see it (the model, maybe not the same aircraft) about once every two weeks or so.

Ya, I just love working a 74 hour work week with 1 day off out of 8 days thanks to the POUTS visit. The Secret Service agents though were pretty damn funny and had a great sense of humor. It was funny seeing how stressed out the White House staff and Intel Corperate were.
