As I have said in here many times before, God bless the police and I wish them a safe shift...if and when this temporary removal during a traffic stop is abused, that is the time to deal with that particular circumstance. If it sounds like I am on the side of the cops, duh, yeah, I am...it it gets a cop home in one piece, I am all for it.
 
As long as this is only for the duration of the traffic stop I see little issue with it. But retaining possession of the weapon after the stop when unjustified should clearly be outlined as bad juju.
