Magazine Ban Introduced
03.04.19
Democrats in Salem have introduced yet another attack on your rights and property.
House Bill 3265 bans standard capacity magazines. Possession of any magazine capable of holding more than 10 rounds will get you 6 months in jail. "Use" of a standard capacity magazine will get you a year in jail and a $6250.00 fine.

Take action.

Robbers and theifs do less time if any at all.

They don't want to jail their constituents...

The mandatory sentencing for theifs was just reduced . From 16 to 13 months for repeat offenders .They can have theifs run wild and lock up legal firearm owners .I see the rare few of people that arnt brainwashed who are long time residents including law enforcement fleeing the state .Crimanals and Illegal Immagrants have more rights than the life long residents and even the cops do now .

Welcome to the beginnings of Oregon's Socialist Democrat Utopia...

Take a real careful look at Portland, all of Oregon will become like Portland...

Pretty much. California is rich in natural beauty, but there is, quite literally, not enough money in the world for me to live there considering what that state has been turned into. Alas, Oregon isn't far behind.

How many of you actually write all of the elected representatives? We need everyone to be hammering away with emails to stop this bullsh*t be because this is getting out of hand with all these bills.

Every single time without fail. And as the proposed legislation begins to move through the process, that contact becomes more frequent and more regular.

We, collectively as gun owners, must step up to the plate this time. Sitting back and waiting to see what happens will result in loss of civil and constitutional rights. Time to be as relentless as a junkyard dog and just as tenacious...

It's now or never Folks, we have got to become one single united force...

Lets stay away from the Left or Right tags. Their either pro 2A or Anti-gunner/Anti-2A.

These Left or Right tags are tribal dog whistles at best and fail to fully represent who or what exactly we're fighting against.
Would you not agree, in general, that the majority of us here are somewhat right leaning, again in general? And would you not agree, in general, that the majority of those that are bringing this legislation forward are left leaning, again in general? While true the sides of this issue are either pro 2A or anti 2A by not identifying and recognizing the underlying ideology of the opposition you fail to fully understand opposition.

We agree implicitly, we support the 2A and fight against Anti-gunners/Anti 2A types and I thank you for your help in this effort.

Any agency that advocates for the confiscation of property or imprisonment of it's owner is NOT fighting against violence but is rather ADVOCATING for violence. They are okay to send armed men to your door to disarm you. Sheer hypocrisy.

For you guys that write your representative, maybe suggest to them you would support gun laws that focus on and specifically target keeping guns, magazine ammo and whatever else out of the hands of criminals and prohibited persons. Criminalizing tax paying voters will have no impact or crime or a manufactured emergency threat to public safety.

Talking points to use when writing to your legislators.

Talking about freedom or the Second Amendment to most lawmakers falls on deaf ears. They sincerely don't think they are infringing on anyone's freedom or the Second Amendment with their "common sense" gun control proposals. You have to come up with practical reasons why the proposed law is a bad idea. When you write to your representatives drive home four points:

  1. Over 15,000 rank and file cops were polled on various gun control measures. Police officers overwhelmingly said laws limiting magazine capacity would not reduce violent crime. PoliceOne's Gun Control Survey: 11 key lessons from officers' perspectives

  2. Magazine capacity laws do not prevent mass shootings. California has had a ban on "large capacity" magazines for many years and continues to have mass shootings, including the Thousand Oaks shooting, the San Bernardino shooting, and the Oikos University shooting in just the past 6 years. The Parkland, FL school shooter did not use "large capacity" magazines. Report: Parkland Shooter Did Not Use High Capacity Magazines | National Review
  3. Law-abiding citizens need "large capacity" magazines for the same reason police officers use them: for self-defense. Studies have shown in a high stress life-or-death self-defense shooting even police officers miss with most of their shots A Hail of Bullets, a Heap of Uncertainty Those extra rounds in a "large capacity" magazine can mean the difference between life and death for a citizen in a self-defense shooting, especially since they lack the advantages of body armor, backup, and radios that police have. If police with those advantages need "large capacity" magazines, citizens need them even more.
  4. A "large capacity" magazine is nothing more than a plastic or metal tube with a spring inside.

They aren't much different in construction from this:

They are not inherently dangerous, hazardous, or toxic. They are not weapons in contrast to knives, hammers, baseball bats, and other common household items. We should not criminalize mere possession of harmless items.

It's interesting to note that the very things that make a weapon larger (size of a rifle vs. a handgun, size of a 30rd magazine vs. a 10rd magazine, etc.) make it harder to conceal. A person is going to have a lot harder time sneaking a rifle into a school or building than he is a pistol which is much easier to hide under clothes in small bags etc.

None of this matters when you consider anti-gunners do in fact want ALL guns banned...BUT they're arguing in circles. What makes a person determined to commit a crime dangerous isn't the gun itself but that criminal's ability to go undetected by unsuspecting bystanders.
