Other than the fact that it's not needed since judges already have that authority, there is no emergency, and it's been a non-problem, I do see a silver lining here. That would be the beginning of CHL reciprocity. Notice that they treat ANY retired LEO, regardless of state and regardless of past actions as the same as an Oregon CHL holder. CHL holders need to have background checks run on a periodic basis, Not so a retired LEO.

We need to fight this bill, but the chances of passing by the super majority are pretty high. The best we can do is let the committee members know that we agree with their view of CHL reciprocity, and regardless of when the CHL expired or it's source.
