Ever wonder how they came up with the number 10? Was it based on a study of various model pistols and then derived through a sophisticated formula? Was it based on firearm crime statistics and lethality of gun types used? Was it really 11 and that sounded funny so they decided on 10? Will they eventually decide revolvers are scary and should be considered assault weapons? Will those 7+ shot models be the ones that are just too much armament?

I still hold out hope that this false narrative, much like climate change (formerly known as global warming ), will become ousted for the baloney it is... and that my fellow Americans will come to their senses. In the meantime, I'll do my part to fight it and vote not only in the ballot box but with my wallet and feet... as in leaving this CA wannabe state for one that protects my rights.

I'll bet a bunch of people inside the room where that Christmas Party in San Bernardino got their tickets swapped, no extra charge, for a Shooting Gallery Party were wishing they had .45 ACP long barreled semi auto pistols with 14 round double stack mags... one in, and another four on their belt. Stupid politicians. Wait till one of them is inside trapped during a shooting like that. See how they do with nothing, or at most seven rounds.

Well for those of us that have to live in the left portion of the state we have to live with this junk from Senn and Moeller all the time.
Look, all the theorizing and complaining doesn't change anything.
Votes and comments do count, despite what others may say.
Yet here we are in Washington with this mess. Doesn't matter if it was Moeller in Vancouver, or Pedersen in Seattle who grew up in my town and went to school with my wife. None of them care about your rights until it interferes with theirs. That is the problem. In my mind I don't care what you do as long as you don't hurt me, my family or take something from me that I have worked for.

No one, not the federal government, not any law created by that government nor anyone without my RESPECT can take my rights from me.
Period.

SO enough posturing from me.

Seattle is the seat of the WA state government, only when the majority wake up and see that this is not an affront on guns but on everything any free person stands for will it change.

Sorry but with the current stance of people, of all ages, in this society, we are losing the battle for our individual rights. REALLY!

I don't care what you want to do. If you think what you do is not a target, good luck!

My family has a farm in E Wa and we are under attack all the time for water use(water rights be damned), hunting, weeds, you name it. Hell if I look wrong at the ditch rider I could lose my water. Luckily he is pro gun and hunts so I am ok for now as long as he can hunt our ground. LOL

It used to be leave me alone and I will leave you alone as long as you are not molesting things(think what you want). But now everyone thinks they have a say in your/my life. BS.

God that felt good.

Consider your effect on other peoples lives before you run your mouth or vote for the COMMunity. Just saying that communism/socialism are interrelated and we seem to be close to it even more than when I was in High school 30 years ago.

WOW, YES. OMG.

"because they want rights for all walks of life and embrace the Constitution only when it suits them, the rest of the time they piss on the Flag and the Constitution and then want freedom. So do I hate them, yes because in my eyes they are not distant they are as bad as someone knocking on my door for confiscation and to take away my own rights for sake of their own ignorance. For that I do hate the anti-gun liberal."

thank you Dunehopper

Spread the word everywhere. EVERYWHERE.

We dropped the ball on I594 big time and now this bill is the consequence of that.
Those of us who pay attention knew this was coming.

Under this bill... a Marlin Model 60 .22lr would be considered an assault rifle.

SA shotguns with more than a 5rnd tube... is an assault weapon

POSSESSION = FELONY

Emailing your Reps is good and all...
Unless theyre on the Judiciary Comittee, it wont matter yet...

SO, lets hammer the Judiciary Committee with emails to encourage them to eliminate this garbage. Washington has bigger, real problems they need to focus on.

Here are the Republicans on the committee...

Tell these guys that you never want HB 2354 to see the light of day!
And remind the Republicans that it is their duty to kill this bill and their future in the legislature depends on it.

We get a couple of Dems to oppose it and were good... for now.

While youre emailing... get ahold of these do-nothings at NRA.

Here is the "Western Regional Director"
Bradley Kruger [email protected]

And our Washington Field Rep
Michael Herrera [email protected]

I still say that we need to be taking the bull by the horns here and getting something on the ballot every election cycle.
We cannot let up, ever. One failure and they smell blood. 594 was just the beginning... they sense weakness.

Indeed, we are constantly under attack. We just lay on the ground getting kicked trying to protect our face while our guts are stomped out.

We need to start throwing punches. If these tools in the legislature wont do it, get them out. If these NRA guys arent putting in work and being proactive... we get them fired and replaced.
If we cant get these million dollar lobby groups to fight for us... then we do it on our own.

Otherwise we'll be lucky to have muzzleloaders. I swear to God they're coming... what are we going to do?

Good idea. I totally agree we all need to put as much or more time into the fight against those seeking to undermine our 2AR as we do belly-aching about it on forums and around dinner tables.

Don't get me wrong, I like a good bash-em thread as much as anyone else... but that won't change the trajectory of this issue. We are losing ground everyday.

Like so many causes, there are a small few trying to do the heavy lifting for the many. How many Gottlieb's do we have out there? They need our help and we need to step up and provide it.

It's not that the anti's have the numbers (voters) to support this... it's that they are much better coordinated and get more bang for their buck (pun intended).

I was reading through the pages and in the Definitions list...
(27) "Assault weapon" means:

(b) A semiautomatic pistol, or a semiautomatic, centerfire, or rimfire rifle with a fixed magazine, that has the capacity to accept more than ten rounds of ammunition;

Does this not state, all Marlin 22 rifles are Assault weapons?

Yup.

Get that model 60 while you can!

Later on it details rimfires with fixed tube mags, but only exempts lever actions.

Technically a tube fed bolt action would be banned due to the 'large magazine'
