FROM GOA!
This is the info and time for the hearing in the event you want to attend.
Washington Patriots: now is the time to put your voice to work for your Right to Bear Arms!

HB 1240, a bill that attacks the very existence of each law-abiding citizen in Washington and bans over 65+ commonly owned rifles, has passed the House and moved to the Senate. The Senate has scheduled HB 1240 for a public hearing in the Committee on Law & Justice at 8:00 AM on March 23rd, at 416 Sid Snyder Ave SW, Olympia, WA 98501-1347.

The anti-gun left will stop at nothing, and HB 1240 is one of their biggest attacks on your Second Amendment rights. We must show up in vast numbers and tell this Senate Committee that HB 1240 should be opposed.

We know that Governor Jay Inslee will sign gun control at the stroke of the pen, so we need to go to the hearing and let our voices be heard to fight for our Right to Bear Arms!

So, please come and attend the Senate Committee on Law & Justice Public Hearing on Thursday, March 23rd at 8:00 am 416 Sid Snyder Ave SW, Olympia, WA 98501-1347, and urge the Committee to oppose HB 1240.

Now that the date has been updated. WHO's going to attend?
I'll be there even though I'm leaving this God forsaken state in a few years, I'll fight to the end!!!
Put up or shut up, you can't bltch about the outcome!!!

If some of you guys who have maybe done this before could share some details on HOW to attend this hearing then I think we might get more folks to do it. I have no experience with going to the capitol so it is a complete mystery on the process. For instance:
1. Where do you park your car if you drive?
2. If parking is a problem how close do the busses get and can you pick one up from downtown?
3. Do we expect they will actually let us indoors to witness the discussion? Or are we talking about just standing outside the building?
4. If we are allowed to go in, any advice on what you CAN'T bring besides the obvious/weapons? I assume there are metal detectors but any other tips?

Any other tips in general?

Clearly we do not want to show up in camo, and should try to make as good of impression as possible with legislators and the TV cameras. Do we also want to consider having a designated spokesperson? Passions will be running high and we want a clear and concise message that does not damage our cause.

I am just asking if anyone can offer details or suggestions which will make it more likely for others to show up and us all to be successful.

I don't mean to monopolize this thread but thought you guys should know this.

If you do the following you can register your position on the record against the bill.
Go to the Senate Committee Sign In at: https://app.leg.wa.gov/csi/Senate#
Select the Law & Justice Committee, and tomorrow's meeting
Select the agenda item of SHB1240
Then Select - I would like my position noted for the legislative record

After you complete that process you can also go back and register to submit a written testimony or to testify in person or remotely.

Further down the page there is a button to "see who has signed in for this agenda item".

At 11:30 Wednesday morning there were 71 people registered to testify in person, 4 of those Pro, 2 as "other", and the rest Con. Based on the stated info that committee hearings last 2 hours to cover the total of all the subjects on the calendar (of which there are 5 for tomorrow) I doubt you will get to testify if you add your name to the list now. But it couldn't hurt.

There is also the option to view the registered position of those not testifying. There were 6676 people on the list. Although they are overwhelmingly CON, I was surprised at how many are PRO. Although I guess in this state I shouldn't be. I sure wish it would show what county each person is in. I would bet more than 50% of the PRO is from King county.

I don't think stating your position, or testifying in writing or remotely is nearly as effective as showing up. But if you can't make it to Olympia then it certainly is a next-best option, and you can feel good that you did SOMETHING to make your voice heard.

I know you all don't need a reminder, but for those of us attending the hearing, let's comport ourselves with dignity and respect. We don't want to lower ourselves to the level of the opposition, who raise their voices when disagreed with, who only spew forth empty rhetoric and emotional hyperbole.

Especially if news media are present (should be), let's have our words ready and be able to speak from our educated position using the logic of our arguments, avoiding emotional appeals and trite phrases, explaining rather than simply repeating, "But it's unconstitutional!"

I'm even planning on putting on a jacket and a tie (and I hate neckties, but this is that important).

With an 8 am hearing. Building doors inside will probably be opened about 7 AM. Doors to the hearing room, about 745. Only a couple hundred fit, others (a couple hundred) will be sent to the overflow room to watch on TV, the rest, left outside. The panels are FULL already. The chair already has the names, pro and con. SO sign in online and leave testimony.

If you're not in line, outside the senate by about 5AM, you likely wont get into the hearing room. The Anti gunner will show up on busses around 6 AM I would expect. They will have LOADS of people, eating donuts, sipping coffee, knitting scarves. They wont engage you in conversation, they're told NOT to talk to us.

Testimony submitted for the record by 9 of us.
6 can attend remotely.
15 voted "con" to oppose the bill. Thats the best we can do on short notice. Soros won't send his hired goons to work for me on short notice.
Letters also sent to so called WA "representatives".
Good luck everyone, be safe!

This is exactly the kind of information I was hoping to see. Dang - I just don't know if I can get there that early and survive the standing in line. As I near 70 doing anything without access to a bathroom becomes a challenge. But I don't want the scene to be the anti's outnumbering us. So I may just go for the optic of it when the press arrives.

So who the hell pays for the anti's busses? Whoever it is owns some kind of business that I am SURE I would like to boycott. How do you get the bus company to tell who paid the bill?

That said, those attending PLEASE keep an eye out for any commercial tie in to the anti's and then share it here. Even liberal business owners understand the bottom line.

Us older guys are gonna have to forego our usual pot of coffee upon rolling out of the sack.

I would have used the laugh emoji instead of the like if it wasn't so sadly true. I had some business downtown today so I drove through and around the capitol about 5:00 scoping out the parking. I don't know if they are always there but it looked to me like the WSP is already staging some vehicles. I expect there will be a STRONG law enforcement presence. Did someone clue them in that NOT having porta potties was going to be a very effective crowd control strategy for this particular day? :)

Some of us might be adding not getting caught peeing in a water bottle in our cars to the list of things not to get arrested for.
