Goodbye PNW. I'm out of here when I retire in 2 years. The wolves are in charge of the chicken coop.

I hear you. I'm not near retirement age, but have plans in the works for expansion to the southwest. The best choice was Nevada, but now I learn that one of the new governor's top priorities is sweeping gun control. A decade ago we almost moved to Arizona, and now I am looking again; maybe we should have just bailed for the desert. ;)

Tough situation. I can see leaving for sure. But you might flee right into a state that is turning blue... I settled in WA knowing it was light blue and hopes of maybe being red one day. No such luck.

I also know that this is a war, and the Dems are capturing entire states by making terrible laws to drive out Conservatives. In the last 2 decades they took Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, and a host of other states; in 1-2 decades or less they'll have Texas, Arizona, Florida, and are making real inroads in several formerly red states... people need to wake up and vote.

There is and alternative, our forefathers never would have waited this long, as we move and make some one's else's problem, we will eventually have no where to go. I lived in Cal when it was ok to carry, and look now. Are we really going to leave the end to our children and grandchildren?

I think that the establishment of a registration would need to be spelled out, but "provenance" is an incredibly vague term. It could be as simple as a time stamped picture of your mags stored with them.

It does look like they wouldn't be allowed in carry guns though, given the listed exemptions for use.

So sick of these idiots. Start writing and calling.

Oh hell, what a bunch of devious pieces of siht. I was so focused elsewhere, that I didn't even think about the mags in our carry pistols. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

I am thinking S. Dakota.

Easy to get and maintain residency with just a short visit (at least last time I checked). Has no onerous gun laws. No income tax.

Interesting idea and I will have to check it out. Everything I read about the Dakotas, politically and economically speaking, is very good indeed.

Though, if I'm going expend massive time and expense to avoid crippling taxes, gun control BS, and the rest in the PNW, my thought is to go with the climate I like: Hot. How hot? Damn hot. No rain, no problem. Adios months of gray and wet, hello dry heat and clear skies. :D

Didn't these elected representatives swear an oath "to uphold and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic" ????

Doesn't submitting bills, initiatives or whatever, that violate that oath equate to treason? Or at least violating their oath of office? Why isnt that question raised more often?

Doesn't matter I guess, we sure as heck didn't vote them out, we never protest. So what do they care what we think.
They do what they want and we all hope on social media and talk about it. Until we work to be active like the opposition we might as well just get used to losing rights. Might as well serve our rights up on platter as all we do is throw money at Lobbies and expect they will stop the madness, when they have stop next to nothing.

I vote.

But I want to get my guns off the books; to have a defense against eventual confiscation or mandatory registration where the state says "we know you have these guns/etc. because we have records of you purchasing them". Not sure that will happen in my lifetime, but I am preparing for it. The BGC law was the first step in that direction.

Oaths mean nothing to politicians - they regularly make promises and break them - don't expect that to change as long as we keep voting for them.

A peer just moved out from N Dakota, but didn't bring any of her guns with her on the drive. Was asking me how to go about having her father ship some out. Told her the FFL to FFL deal.

Then I recommended she just buy some new ones out here, keeping the ones she allready owns off book...

It gets really cold in the Dakotas in the winter, with lots of snow early on. But just because you have residency there doesn't mean you have to be present there year round. The main thing is to NOT be in Orygun (or WA) for the majority of the year and not meet other criteria of residency (not vote here, not have vehicles registered here, etc.) and never say you live here. You can visit here, but don't stay here. I plan to have land and a place to shelter when I am here, but it will be in a trust and I won't be here most of the year - I will be traveling - at least for a number of years until I get too old to travel.

I do plan to go where it is warm and sunny in the winter - New Zealand is my current plan for spending most of the winter months.

S. Dakota has some good hunting/hiking/camping/etc. - so spending some time there in the early fall to early winter would be an option - I would like to take a buff or elk.

When my parents moved back to Orygun when my dad had terminal cancer, I flew down to Nevada and drove their third car back here. It also happened to have all his firearms piled in the trunk and back seat.

Having a trusted relative or friend transport them out here would be an option too. Some movers won't move firearms, most won't move ammo - when I moved from Seattle down here, I went used an "Pod" to move most of my stuff and I included ammo even though it was against their policy. I brought my firearms down here in my car myself though.

There will come a time when such options are not legal anymore; when Orygun/WA require registration of certain firearms on "import", just like Calif. does.

Leftist's criminal politicians know what's best us commoners...

There, there children, elitist leftist commie no good for nothing politicians know what's best...or so they would have you believe and they're not just interested in disarming the public. They have a lot of other plans to control you, you, unruly subject you...

At one time we were citizens, but not any longer.

Even in Texas scum bag commies like Robert O'Rouke, with the fake Mexican nickname tried, failed, but tried to get into a political position in order to rule us plebeians, but failed.

Yeah, I'm venting.

How these lefty monsters get into positions of power can only be by corruption and people who want free stuff. Become a socialist for free stuff? Why heck yeah, and control me all you want, I like free stuff instead of freedom.

1st, anyone who has been watching the coast go left the last decade and hasn't been buying as many mags as they could afford is pretty silly IMO. I want my grand children to be swimming in AR mags and glockazines. Hell I want them to be able to build a bed frame out of them! It is important to buy magazines now for guns you might want to own in the future.

Being slightly hyperbolic, but you get the point. Gucci snowflake guns are fun and cool, but a major advantage to basic boring popular guns is cheap plentiful magazines. Online, 30 rd AR Pmags are 1/2 the price of m1 carbine mags, in stock on Pluto, and very reliable. A lot of AR mags feed different more powerful calibers is .223 is too boring.

You can buy 33 rd glock magazines for a PCC for ~28 bucks online, and their pistol magazines are 15-20. Glock pmags being even cheaper at like $8 for range time. Buy mostly g17 mags as they will fit the g34, g17, g19, g26, and g45 ( I think)

You can also buy 21 rd mags that fit all of the above.

Another magazine to look at for a gun you probably own is ruger BX 25 mags for your 10/22. A 10/22 makes a good training weapon for the younguns, but also makes an better-than-nothing defensive tool for children and arthritic elderly, and the 25 rd mags help with that endevor. They can be had for like $15-25 online, look for 2 packs.

HK vp9 magazines are expensive, but great because they are durable steel, and the followers are blocked to prevent over compressing the spring, leading to long term reliability. They are compatible across a wide range of their pistols (see below) Taylor freelance also sell +5 kits for them that give you a solid fighting load of 20 rds.

VP9 & P30 9mm Pistol models:

  • VP9, VP9 Tactical
  • P30, P30L, P30S
  • VP9SK, P30SK, P2000, USPC 9mm (will sit below the mag well and not sit flush)
Please note this: HK VP9/P30 magazine will also fit the following models but will extend from the bottom of the mag well and will not fit flush with the bottom of the mag well. As this is an extended 15 round 9mm magazine:
  • VP9SK, P30SK, HK USPC, P2000, P2000SK

2nd, Colorado proved that you can and should just ignore these laws wholesale, and they can be rendered ineefective or repealed.

3rd, "rebuild kits" are a great way to still aquire or import mags until they outlaw those, so is drilling out pinned magazines.

4th, if you already have a hunting or fishing license, just keep some cheap gear in your car and you can always claim you are headed out to do some bass fishing or coyotee hunting. We did this in CA.

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." - Thomas Jefferson

Leftist pols are so far removed form our founders that people who respect President Jefferson's wisdom may come about in action as people don't always acquiesce to the miserable overlords - sometimes they rebel.

OK here is a very recent headline written in the New York Slimes ...
"Happiness is Found in Socialism and Higher Taxes" smh!
IMHO the whole gun "control" scam is all about making people into happy and defenseless little Socialists. You can figure out the rest. o_O
