I was just now looking over some very find hunting arms on a German site. They look quite exquisite, but nothing I couldn't live with out. I am familiar with the process of importing a firearm, but have not done so.

  • Have you ever imported a firearm and how did it go?
  • Would a small shop offering said service be of interest or far too esoteric?
Anywho, just curious. Thanks. :)

I had an 03 FFL at one time. Theres a lot of bonding and customs crap you have to go through to import anything. Even parts from Canada are a PITA to bring in. That 03 FFL charge was a waste.

Do you mean 08 FFL?

I imported a shotgun from Turkey once using the process specific to active duty servicemembers. It was comical in some respects but went smoothly.

Its a hassle to import firearms, that's why there's not many companies doing it. ATF has to approve of the design to begin with, and when it comes to semiautos good luck. Bolt actions, shotguns, etc are easier to deal with, but still.

Parts are easier, but the parts a lot of people buy they usually do on their own. And a business involvement would also get some of that stuff in hot water.

I think it would depend entirely on what was imported and at what cost to the consumers.

One day I will have enough money for an European combination gun (A Vierling is a dream gun for me) , but as awesome as they are I believe you would sit on it for a while before finding a buyer with the cash.

I used the same process in '88 bringing back my Beretta 92F and a Colt AR-15A2 that were locked up in my duffel bag... and my port of entry was NJ!!

Mercy, mercy me..... things just aren't what they used to be.

you'd be sent to the NJ Gulag in today's world.

Hard to say, that was a civilian contracted MAC flight of a 747 FULL of military personnel and military family/dependents flying back from Frankfurt. We went through a very easy to pass through "customs" process (not at all like the "usual" process) then from there onto a myriad of different military transport busses to wherever everyone was going.

That was in '88, I don't know how crazy the process may be in this day and time....

Can't even bring lotion. Curse those lotion terrorists for making everyone's skin smooth.

given that our interests tend to align, probably would be interested if someone else was doing it.

As soon as I win the big lottery I'm getting a copy of the Frankonia Jagd catalog or better yet I'm making a buying trip to Frankfurt with a suitcase full of Euros . I'll find a way to get it all back.

I getting my own casino with slot machines and liquor and hookers. In fact, forget the slot machines. And the casino. :D

Aloha, Mark

So this fellow comes home to his wife packing suitcases. He says "What's going on honey?" She says "I just won the lottery! Pack your bags!" He says "That's fantastic! Where are we going?" She says "I don't care! Just get out!"

:)
I figure my wife and family and employer are all going to be saying the same thing a few days after the lottery drawing...

"Has anyone seen Wired?"
