Looking at a S&W Model 36 in great mechanical shape, but the nickel plate is about 75% and looks pretty rough. I've never been a huge fan of nickel and am wondering if any here have had luck de-plating in their home shop. Via reverse electrolysis or chemical. I know it's technically possible, but some real world input would be appreciated. Thanks!

"Yep. Not on a gun, but some medical parts that came back from the plater in horrid shape. Worked fine.
