? in title. I am looking to hear from users who have had AR barrels that wouldn't shoot better than 3 MOA. What brands models, round counts, caliber, optic type, etc? What type of ammo did you try?

I am thinking about placing a want ad for a super cheap accuracy challenged barrel to see if I can improve the accuracy with handloads.

It's sounds like you are interested in center fire only but l have a dedicated. 22lr barrel from CMMG that shoots 2-3" groups at 50 yards, with the ammo it likes.

You can improve the precision of a handload but you cant improve the accuracy of a barrel...

Yes I am going to look for a centerfire chambered, rifle length barrel. That way I can make a variety of handloads in the barrel.

That may be true. I will admit that I am a 2 MOA shooter on most days but I haven't found a cheap AR barrel yet that can't shoot OK with one load or another. I am sure there are some out there and I hope to find one.

My first AR about 25 years ago was a Colt HBar Match rifle. I could never get it to shoot any better than 2 moa, more like 2.5 moa. Back then there wasn't nearly the plethora of parts and accessories available. I still have the rifle, but that barrel is long gone, replaced by one I bought from Century Arms for $50. Yes, I know, but believe it or not, it's very accurate.
